Camp KOHOE was founded in Dec of 1999 in Benton Harbor MI. It came about from an inspiration received from God two years earlier in CP in Korea. After much prayer and longtime searching (2 years and over 50 properties visited) we were guided to our present place. Moving our family wasn't easy especially si

nce we loved our home. It was a great sacrifice for our children and at times I was wondering if I had truly heard God's voice and made the right decision. But many years and countless workshops and camps later we know it was the best decision we've ever made. We have hosted CARP, STF, GPA, young adult and older adult retreats and many summer and winter camps for the children of our communities in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin. Our facilities are simple but what we lack we make up with heart and love. Camp KOHOE has grown over the years and we will keep on growing for you.

It is not silent. There are birds before you are awake, water moving all day, and wind working through the trees.

The difference is that none of it needs a response from you.

No pings. No catching up. Just an afternoon with nothing in it, and a lot going on around you.

Typical Airbnb: a house, a lockbox, a neighbor's fence.

This one: a house, and then 150 acres of nature.

Trails. River. Room to spread out and lose the clock.

Same booking process. Completely different weekend.

Day 1: you reach for it every four minutes.
Day 2: you notice you've stopped reaching.
Day 3: you're annoyed that you have to go back.

We've watched this happen to almost every guest. Including us.

Three days seems to be the number. Save this for when you're ready.

We get this complaint a lot.

Ann, Haley and Abigail stayed in three different houses, months apart, and left us the same review. So did a lot of people before them.

It's the one piece of feedback we have no plan to act on. Two nights is the minimum. Three is when it actually starts working. Most guests tell us the second morning is when they stop checking their phone.

The Purple House sleeps six with the breathtaking back porch where everyone ends up.

Coffee in the morning. Nothing on the schedule. Wineries and good food fifteen minutes down the road when you feel like leaving, you might just stay instead.

Years ago, a camper at our property looked around and called it the kingdom of heaven on earth.

KOHOE is that sentence, shortened.

We didn't come up with it, and we've never found anything better. It's still the standard we're trying to live up to: 150 acres in southwest Michigan where people put everything down for a few days.

Our hearts are with the families, businesses, and communities impacted by the tornadoes this weekend.

While KOHOE was spared from damage, many nearby areas were not as fortunate. We are lifting up everyone affected and praying for safety, strength, and support during the recovery ahead.

We are incredibly thankful for the first responders, volunteers, and neighbors helping one another during this difficult time.
