That’s a wrap folks. Lights out on a wonderful 2026 Season. See you next year, have a safe and healthy winter!

Less than 5 miles north on Route 1 is Kennebunk. The Dam on the Mousam River is literally attached to the Lafayette Building. Located on the 1st floor, Duffy's Tavern & Grill is a great place to eat and catch a view of the river. Thankfully they are open year round so the team here at the Carriage House can have some eating options in the winter.

FIRST FROST and LAST WEEK of the season. We made it 26 days into the autumnal equinox before our first frost this year. Our beautiful Maple Tree is over half naked getting ready for it's long winter nap and the Dahlia tubers will need to be put to bed inside soon. Grateful to have some friendly bike riders make us their annual stay for their leaf peeping trip. It has been a full house this weekend!

Look who we saved today while doing some fall pool chores. A Good start to a beautiful Saturday. Who remembers the jingle at the end?

Seaweed and Surfers. Nor’easter day 3

09/27/2026

No one requested a beach shuttle today for some reason. First nor’easter of the season is still going and bringing lots of rain, sea foam and seaweed ashore.

Current impact of the “big” Nor’easter. We are NOT complaining but we are obviously being a bit sarcastic. Thankfully the storm hasn’t produced damaging results here at the motel. Will post some video form the beach soon.

Here we go... Southern Maine has entered phase 1 of the foliage report! Who loves a nice leaf peeping drive?

Hydrangea paniculata letting us know summer is transitioning to fall. Last night got to mid 40's. Join us for a cozy get away while there is still much to do on the coast of Maine but the pace feels just a little slower than the summer - oh, and the rates fall this time of year as well!

Caught these two hanging out on a laundry break on this beautiful September morning. Can you identify these unlikely friends.
