And that's a wrap! Our 2026 summer season has officially come to an end. As always, we are so, so grateful for all of the customers that came out this year to the Pine River Paddlesports Center. Whether you camped with us, paddled with us, or simply bought a sticker in our gift shop - thank you for supporting this small family owned and operated business. Even with the long hours and very few days off, what a gift it is to be able to have our kids at work with us.
And we owe a big thank you to our incredible staff. We appreciate their good attitudes, hard work, and long hours they put in all summer long. As our family has grown, the PRPC Supercrew has stepped up to help fill in as part of our attention has rightfully been diverted to Quinn and Marrik (this summer is the *least* I, Alaney, have ever worked in the office, even though it still felt like a lot! ha!). Who you work with can really make or break your experience - we are so glad to work with our friends!
Lastly, this is the time of year when we take a break! I will be signing off of social media for the month of November. You can still call the office with questions, to purchase a gift certificate, or to book a winter rafting trip (if we don't answer, just leave a message!). We will be checking our emails during November, too. Winter rafting trips can also be booked online through our website.

Just a reminder that this weekend is our LAST weekend of the season before we reopen for guided winter rafting trips! Although quite a few of the leaves have fallen, there are still some really beautiful pops of color along the river. And the weather this weekend is looking fabulous with sunshine and highs in the mid-upper 60's! We open at 10am on Friday, and 9am on both Saturday and Sunday. The weather this week is looking phenomenal for October - sunshine and highs in the mid to upper 60's all week long, even through next weekend! We got a bit of rain and wind last week and the river peaked at 320 CFS on Saturday. It has since come down to an average flow of 239 CFS. The rain and wind, though, knocked down quite a lot of our beautiful fall colors. It's still pretty out there, but I would say we are past peak colors now.
We are open today (Monday), and then by appointment only for tomorrow and Wednesday. We reopen Thursday-Sunday for our final weekend of our summer/fall season for both paddling and camping. October doesn't usually give us this many warm, sunny days - take advantage of it before our season (& warm weather!) ends!☀🍁

It is pure ✨ MAGIC ✨in northern Michigan right now. These pictures were taken from our campground this weekend. Wherever you look, there seems to be a canopy of colors. The river is running below average for this time of year at 209 CFS. Today and tomorrow the high temps are in the 70's, and then it starts to dip back down to highs in the 50's and 60's.
Just a reminder that our new hours are currently in effect. We are open today until 2:30pm, but are open by appointment only tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday. We reopen at 10:00 AM on Thursday.
These fall colors won't last long - this coming weekend will probably be the last of peak color. Let us know if we can help you enjoy a unique color tour from the river valley!🍁

If you've paddled the Pine and noticed how clean it is, you have the Traverse Area Paddle Club to thank.

Every year, TAPC volunteers head out on the Pine for multiple river cleanups. They haul out trash, clean up litter, and pick up after the few folks who don't pack out what they pack in (the pictures are from their litter pick ups between Elm Flats to Dobson and Dobson to Peterson). It's hard, wet, unglamorous work, and they don't just do it on the Pine. TAPC organizes clean ups on many different northern Michigan rivers.

We've been running trips on the Pine for 55 years, and we can tell you that a river doesn't stay this clean by accident. It takes people who show up, year after year, and put in the effort. TAPC is one of the biggest reasons the Pine is one of the cleanest rivers in Michigan.

To everyone at the Traverse Area Paddle Club: thank you. We're grateful for your stewardship, and we're proud to share the river with you. And thank you to all of the paddlers on the Pine who take the time and respect other users enough to tie their gear into their watercraft to make sure it does NOT become litter in our favorite river!

The weather this past weekend was beautiful for enjoying all that the Manistee National Forest has to offer. The river peaked at 308 CFS Friday evening from the rain we received last week, but it is already down to about average for this time of year around 230 CFS.
The colors are beautiful up here right now - these pictures are from a guided rafting trip we had on Saturday. Remember, we are closed tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday of this week, but we will re-open on Thursday. The weather is looking fantastic this week and weekend. The next two weekends should be prime for seeing good fall color🍁 Make sure you make time to soak it in - the colors will be gone before we know it!
