Original owners had very large rocks installed 20 years ago. Hurricane Helene washed away absolutely everything that was at the shore including the giant rocks and all the trees.

I'm going to plant some trees along the water in the fall. I want to swing a hammock between 2 trees!

Special Announcement:🚨

The food vendor for the Ashe County 250th Celebration will be the Happy Trails Cowboy Church of Ashe!

Visitors will be able to purchase a hotdog meal for $6, which includes a hotdog, chips, and drink, or a fish plate, which includes fish, coleslaw, fries, hush puppies, and a drink for $12. The congregation will start serving food at 11 a.m. Proceeds from the food sale will benefit the Cowboy Church and their efforts to construct a church.

This event will take place on Saturday, June 6th, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We have some fun activities planned throughout the day. For more info, check out our events page on our website at www.ashehistory.org.

Folks, June 6th is right around the corner, and that means that it's almost time for the Ashe County America 250th Celebration! 🇺🇸

The event will take place on Saturday, June 6th, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on the grounds of the Museum of Ashe County History and there will be a variety of activities throughout the day, such as living history demonstrations, historic lectures, traveling exhibits, local non-profit groups, activities for children, and more!

Below are just a few of the things we have planned!

11:00 a.m. Reading of Declaration of Independence by Daniel Boone Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution

12:15 p.m. The Ride of Martin Gambill, a documentary by Clint Johnson.

1 p.m. "Western North Carolina & Eastern Tennessee in the American Revolution," a special lecture by historian Michael C. Hardy

3:00 p.m. The Ride of Martin Gambill, A documentary by Clint Johnson

4 p.m. Songs from Hang Together by The Gathering Homeschool Theatre Guild: Hang Together is an original musical that charts the tumultuous years from the passage of the Intolerable Acts in 1774 to the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Traveling exhibits include the American Battlefield Trust's "American Revolution Experience," a seven-panel display that explores how everyday people were affected by the American Revolution, and NCDCR's "March to King Mountain," a four-panel display that covers the Overmountain Men and their march to the Battle of Kings Mountain.

This project is supported through a grant from America 250 NC, a program of the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
