We’re starting something new!
Each week, we’ll be highlighting one of the locally owned businesses that helps make Weston’s Main Street so special. And for our lodging guests, there’s a little bonus: shop at that week’s featured business, bring your receipt back to the front desk, and receive a FREE late checkout!
And for our very first feature, I had to start with one of my absolute favorites. ❤️

BACK ROADS ART — 416 MAIN ST.

It’s not just a shop, it’s an art gallery filled entirely with handmade pieces, and there is so much to look at that you can walk through again and again and still notice something new every time.
You’ll find everything from wood carvings and metal art to one-of-a-kind handmade creations, all packed into one of the most fun places to explore on Main Street.
Owners Steve and Denise Jarrett have been in business for 20 years — four years in Pleasant Hill before bringing Back Roads Art to Weston, where they’ve now been for 16 years.
I asked Steve what some of his favorite pieces are, and his answer was the metal art monsters by artist Fred Conlon. I have to agree. They are some of the coolest pieces in the gallery and definitely worth stopping in to see.
And of course, no visit is complete without saying hello to Mattie the cat who is arguably the one running the show.
Back Roads Art is the kind of place you don’t rush through. Take your time, look around, look again, admire the craftsmanship, and see what catches your eye.

If you know Weston in the fall, you know this doesn’t happen very often!

The weekend of September 18–20 has been held for a wedding block, which means these rooms haven’t been available to the public. That block has officially expired, we’ve worked our way through the waitlist, and now we suddenly have several rooms available!

Finding an open weekend in Weston during this time of year can be tough — finding multiple rooms available on the same weekend is even harder.

If you’ve been trying to plan a fall weekend in Weston but keep running into sold-out dates, this is your chance!

What’s a pawpaw, you ask? 🤔 It’s the largest edible fruit native to North America, featuring a creamy, custard-like texture and a tropical flavor profile that tastes like a blend of banana, mango, and cantaloupe! 🥭🍌

A few fun facts:
🌸 Unique Pollination: Its maroon flowers smell like rotting meat to attract flies and beetles for pollination instead of bees.
🌳 Pawpaw Patches: Trees form dense groves connected by underground roots, meaning many trees in a patch are actually genetic clones!
🦋 Butterfly Host: It serves as the exclusive larval host and food source for the Zebra Swallowtail butterfly.

Weekdays are my favorite.
Waking up to quiet streets, walking half a block away to Weston Coffee Roastery for your morning coffee. Waving at the familiar faces already sitting on the benches, chatting over their morning coffee. Saying good morning to someone opening up their shop for the day.
The sidewalks are still mostly empty. There’s hardly a car on the street. You can hear the town slowly waking up around you.
No traffic. No crowds. No rushing from one place to the next.
Just neighbors, coffee, shop doors opening, and that peaceful little-town feeling that’s getting harder and harder to find.
Some mornings, Weston really does feel like something out of a Hallmark movie.
And on mornings like this, I’m reminded how lucky we are to call this little town home and to share the magic with all of our amazing guests.
