Big day a few weeks ago. Our QA auditor was here from Hilton to inspect the entire hotel. Kudos to the entire team for improving year after year, especially our housekeeping department with a nearly perfect score.

For the past two years, our hotel has welcomed thousands of furry friends to be guests at our hotel. Pet owners are delighted that they can travel with their most loved companions. One family arrived at the hotel with their two kitties over the holidays. But upon check out, disaster happened. One of their beloved cats, Ricky, jumped out of the car when they were packing up heading to Florida. Obviously distraught, the couple made a hard decision, in tears and after hours of deliberating, to make their way to see their family for Christmas. They left the very important task of finding Ricky to our staff, and we did not take this lightly. Right away we made signs with the picture of Ricky. Our housekeepers posted the pictures on their housekeeping carts for all guest to see. For days we set up food and pointed our cameras to try to catch a glimpse of Ricky. Our staff members searched the area every time they went outside, calling her name. Whenever food deliveries were made to the hotel by local people and businesses we asked them to be on the lookout. And then a miracle happened. One of those guests saw the poster on the laundry cart and spotted Ricky on our outdoor hot tub. Quickly, we made a plan. We set the trap, put food inside, pointed our security cameras at the location and within hours are staff members saw Ricky go into the cage. Unharmed, unscathed and nearly a month later he was finally in our hands. His family members were notified and rushed to Wheeling over an 8 hour drive to reunite with their precious love.
What a happy ending. We love our staff, their compassion and kindness.
