This photo was taken last year on October 29th - the day Costco opened its new location in Fruitport. On the right is Costco’s Gulfstream G650ER. On the left is a Learjet 45 owned by Walmart.

The picture shows a great example of why MKG is a critical part of the Lakeshore’s transportation infrastructure and how much it helps facilitate local economonic development.

A 6,500-foot runway with precision approaches, robust snow removal, aircraft rescue and firefighting, air traffic control and many other modern airport systems give businesses reliable, year-round aviation access to our community.

That access matters when companies are planning and deciding where to invest, expand and do business. The story was the same this summer with Chobani (La Colombe) as they had a significant aviation presence at MKG over multiple visits this year.

We often see that economic impact firsthand, as shown in the picture. Last month alone, approximately 300 charter and corporate flights connected businesses, organizations and travelers to our community. Each arrival represents more than an aircraft on the ramp — it represents opportunity, investment and confidence in a growing Muskegon County. 🛫

So many schools of thought: 1) Labor Day marks the end of Summer. 2) Back to school marks the end of Summer. 3) Hold your horses! The calendar marks the end of Summer on September 22nd. 4) As long as it's nice out, it's Summer.
