Stone Bear Sanctuary A Secluded Wildlife and Nature Lovers Retreat in Upstate New York. The property is very private, quiet, and secluded out of view from other homes.

Beautifully furnished home in a “sanctuary like” setting on 37 pristine acres with gorgeous views made up of a wonderful combination of forest and fields in some of New Yorks most beautiful rolling hills with incredible wildlife. Start your day with a workout in the fully equipped 700 square foot gym. Work from the beautiful second floor office with amazing views, then see lots of wildlife roaming

through the property as you enjoy the views while sitting on the front deck having dinner. Go for a hike on the miles of marked trails on the property and explore the points of interest on the trail map in an amazing NY hardwood forest. Learn about the forest, pond and ecosystem and local geology with a visit to the Bluestone Quarry that was active until a few years ago. The 5 acres of lawn are maintained by the property manager who lives almost next door, as is snow removal and whatever maintenance is needed, questions about the house, etc….

When certain animals look alike, it's very hard to tell who is who... But Black Bears do something that makes it a little bit easier to tell who they are. As they get older, their personality becomes more pronounced... Their mannerisms, they way the walk, turn, look, communicate with others, observe.... These things make it much easier to identify one Bear from another.

This is the same Bear at 5 months old, and almost 8 years old, 2 litters and 250 lbs. later.

It's a pretty special sight to see 4 little Black Bear Cubs. There are usually 2 or 3, and more rare are 1 with 4 being the most infrequent. Most of the time they're slightly brown when Cubs, but they change to Black during their first year and a half. The little cub on the left has a cool white V shaped mark on it's chest. It's funny how they all lined up with the biggest one on the right, going down to the smallest on the left, sort of like they posed for the photo shoot!
