For Rafael, bald cypress trees bring back memories of growing up in the South. Now growing throughout the property, they’re beginning to turn shades of deep red—a beautiful reminder of the way the gardens change with the seasons. 🍁

Milkweed 🧡

We’ve planted lots of milkweed throughout the property, an important food source for monarch butterflies as they make their incredible migratory journey to Mexico. 🦋

We love collecting the seeds and sharing them with our community, encouraging others to plant milkweed in their own gardens too. 🌱

It’s a simple way to help monarchs on their journey. 🌿

Red Amaranth ♥️🌿

Or as Rafael likes to call it, middle finger amaranth. 🖕🏽😂 Once you see it in full form, you’ll understand why.

But there’s more to this one than its nickname. Hidden inside are hundreds of tiny seeds. 🌱✨ It’s pretty amazing what you find when you take a closer look.
