The Ruby House Bed and Breakfast Welcome to the Ruby House B&B in historic Winterset, Iowa. Located in Madison County, we are in the hometown of John Wayne & the famous covered bridges.

We are looking to open the fall of 2016 - When we determine a date and start taking reservations, we will be sure to post it on this page.

To our dear Ruby House friends, it's a bittersweet time for us. We have a "sale pending" on our beautiful house! A new job and, with it, new opportunities have made a move necessary for us. We are now busy preparing for our move in October so will no longer be taking reservations. We have enjoyed the Bed and Breakfast so very much and have made many new friends who have enriched our lives. We're excited about this next step for us and are pleased to have found new owners who love our old girl as much as we do! For those of you who have stayed with us, never fear, Gracie is doing well and coming along to our new home! Thank you to everyone who helped make my long-time dream such a fun reality!

Hello friends! The Ruby House is up for sale! A new job is moving us away, and as sad as we are to leave the lovely old lady, we're excited for new adventures!

Currently, we are temporarily closed due to Covid-19, but once we can reopen, we will take guests/reservations up to 6 weeks out, assuming the house has not sold. I will update this page.

Hi Everyone! The Ruby House is for sale! We must move due to a job change and are sad to leave our beautiful home, but change is good and exciting! Once Covid-19 allows, then as long as we still own The Ruby House, we will take reservations for up to 6 weeks out. Take note that we are currently temporarily closed due to the virus. I will update when we reopen, if the house has not sold.

FINALLY getting some things done on the outside! Now to get the porches painted, too... Also, what do you think of my corn crop? It’s a volunteer and the farm girl in me had to see how it would turn out. AND.... steps and sod to be finished soon.

The Ruby House is making some adjustments to the outside of our home this year. Some new siding on the west, removal of some steps for some wall repair, some new shingles on the porches and finally some exterior painting and landscaping this summer.

We are so thankful for all the support from our community, our friends (new and old) and family during this restoration journey. Terry and Patrick
