No buts about it—we weren’t expecting this view on the Kern River Trail. 🫢Most trees get photographed for their beautiful branches. This one made the camera roll for entirely different assets. 😂

Your smoke might disappear, but your cigarette butt doesn’t! 🚬

That tiny butt can stick around for years, pollute our waterways, and harm the wildlife that calls the Kern River home.

If you smoke, please dispose of your cigarette butts properly! The ground, the river and our wildlife aren’t ashtrays. ♻️⛰️🏕️

You can hike along it from its origin at Big Meadow.

Salmon Creek begins on the Kern Plateau and flows through Sequoia National Forest to the Kern River north of Kernville. The sign marks 4,480 feet in elevation along the creek. Hikers can reach Salmon Creek by the Rincon Trail, where creekside shade follows a climb with broad views of the Upper Kern country. A lovely reward for the uphill miles. 💙
