Plenty of Sharptail in NoDak

The Department of Natural Resources announced July 15 there would be no sharp-tailed grouse hunting season in 2026 in Wisconsin. The state's advisory committee for the species cited a 22% year-over-year population decline, including a 45% drop at Crex Meadows Wildlife Area. See link below ⬇️

This fall, keep an eye out for our PATH projects! Built to help support North Dakota Game & Fish Dept. PLOTS program, PATH further incentivizes the creation of new habitat on PLOTS properties. Each contract must contain at least 40 acres of new habitat in order to qualify. This program was made possible by the Outdoor Heritage Fund and other supporting partners 🌾

Big news for upland hunters!

Quail Forever is applauding today's announcement by the U.S. Department of the Interior for the proposed expansion of 1,450 new hunting and fishing opportunities on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service lands across 111 stations in 32 states.

This represents the largest expansion of hunting and fishing access in the history of the USFWS and will benefit upland hunters and the places bird dogs love to roam!

Great news for upland hunters and private landowners alike! U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service just announced $52 million in funding for the Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program (VPA-HIP) — the largest investment in program history and first new funding opportunity since 2019.

With more than 70% of the lower 48 in private ownership, access to private lands is essential for hunters to keep their traditions strong. VPA-HIP delivers by helping state agencies incentivize landowners to voluntarily open their land for public hunting and fishing.

Increasing access for hunting and incentivizing voluntary conservation on private lands are both key priorities for the Trump Administration’s MABA 250 initiative, and PF & QF thank NRCS for keeping upland hunting traditions strong!
