SoWo: South Worthington

SoWo: South Worthington Not quite Clintonville, and just south of Riverlea, we are South Worthington—or as we’ve been dubbed by some homeowners in the area—SoWo.

Nestled between Clintonville and Riverlea is south Worthington. Or—as some homeowners have dubbed it—SoWo. We’re an old neighborhood with a renewed vitality. Made up of 1940s Cape Cod houses and sidewalks that take us places, kids on bikes and scooters rule the streets. We’re home to professionals of all ages, retirees, and stay-at-home moms with kids in top-notch schools. The chiming bells of St. Michael Cathedral permeate the air, enticing eateries, cozy pubs, and eclectic shops are steps away, and we’re guaranteed front-row seats at the Worthington Memorial Day parade. SoWo is the perfect blend of small-town charm and urban accessibility. The smell of pizza wafts through the air from family-friendly Villa Nova, and patio seating and a cold drink await you at Over the Counter (OTC). And when SoWo residents aren’t noshing or imbibing, you’ll often find them walking dogs, riding bikes and jogging in the historic Walnut Grove Cemetery, whose headstones and monuments whisper tales of bygone eras. Venture a bit further, and Rush Run Park on the Olentangy River emerges as a sprawling 39-acre sanctuary. It seamlessly blends into our collective backyard and is teeming with lush flora and fauna that you can explore on well-worn paths. Some residents have been here from the start, others are young families with tiny tots just starting out, but we all share in the excitement of the booming renaissance in our little section of Worthington—and we’re so happy to call it home.
