Happy , campers!

This week, we're heading to the Hoosier State’s Land of 101 Lakes. This campground is a lakeside retreat, perfectly positioned off the longest road in the U.S. This is year-round camping at its finest, whether you're here to stay or just passing through.

The amenities list at this campground is long. Like, really long. We're talking four playgrounds, co****le, volleyball, and basketball. A pristine private sandy beach. A dock for fishing and boating. Even a fish cleaning station! You could easily spend your entire trip exploring what's available right onsite. And with hundreds of campsites to choose from, every type of camper finds their perfect spot. Pro tip: if you’re bringing your four-legged camper, be sure to check out this KOA’s Paw Pen Sites.

Need to venture off-property? The campground's namesake town is just 5 miles away. Plus, you're less than three hours from Chicago, Detroit, and Indianapolis, making this the ideal home base or convenient stopover for any road trip.

While KOAs offer a consistent basecamp across North America, the landscapes surrounding them are entirely unique. Take, for instance, our northernmost and southernmost campgrounds.

Up near the Arctic Circle, Fairbanks / Chena River KOA in North Pole, Alaska, sits right along the Chena River. It’s the ultimate basecamp for spotting moose and eagles, exploring the tundra, and witnessing the breathtaking Aurora Borealis.

Travel nearly 5,000 miles southeast, and you’ll trade the tundra for paradise at the Sugarloaf Key / Key West KOA Resort in the Florida Keys. Here, warm ocean waters, sunny beaches, and iguanas take center stage.

North, South, East, or West, from the pine trees to the palms, there's a KOA waiting for you. ☺️⛺️🌲🌴

It's time for , campers!

Combine prehistoric finds with all the benefits of modern camping at this week's KOA. Strategically located near Route 191, this campground is the perfect pit stop for Western road trippers.

The campground's variety of RV sites accommodates everyone, from the van lifers to the motorhome enthusiasts. Choose from pull-thru, back-in, or KOA Patio sites and spend less time setting up and more time relaxing. No RV? No problem. Stay in a ultra-comfy Deluxe Cabin or a classic tent site.

The area is known for its abundance of dino finds. Under 20 miles away is Dinosaur National Monument, where you can see over 1,500 fossils on exposed cliff face. Other state parks in the area provide boating and fishing with views of dinosaur tracks along the way. After you've channeled your inner paleontologist, camp is a welcome respite. Challenge your fellow campers to a game of horseshoes or giant jenga, cool off in the pool, or take in a movie under the stars.

The question is - what KOA are we talking about? Comment your best guess below! The answer will be revealed in tomorrow's comments.

Try this delicious recipe as a great fall dessert. 😋

A favorite camping dessert in the fall when a warm slice of pie topped with vanilla ice cream really hits the spot! Ingredients: – 2 disposable pie pans – 1 refrigerated pie crust – 1 2/3 cups toasted pecans, roughly chopped – 2/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar – 2....

On the same day the war ended at Yorktown, it was burning on Hilton Head Island.

Retaliatory raids by a combined force of about 150 British regulars from Savannah and Loyalist militia from Daufuskie Island disembarked at the ferry landing and marched along the shore of Skull Creek burning Patriot homes in their path, capturing enslaved people and stealing livestock. Among the Loyalist militia from Daufuskie Island were relatives of some of the Hilton Head families whose property was plundered. This fierce partisan division between neighbors and family members was characteristic of warfare in the Lowcountry.

On this same day, hundreds of miles to the north, General Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown. The war would continue aggressively in Beaufort District for nearly two more years.

Great day trip from .

Built in 1898 at the start of the Spanish-American War, Fort Fremont was part of the coastal defense system protecting Port Royal Sound and the nearby Port Royal Naval Station.

U.S. Army troops were stationed here from 1898 to 1911 to keep watch over one of the most important waterways on the South Carolina coast.

Today, the remaining fortifications offer a glimpse into turn-of-the-century military history and the Lowcountry's role in a changing America.
