October 29 is going to be a big day downtown! At 11 a.m., the City of Yuma will hold a ceremony before demolishing one of our longtime business neighbors—🫶 a landmark that’s been empty for decades. We’ll miss the “ghosts of downtown” (our little morning joke 👻), and we know this change has brought out strong feelings in the community.🫶
For the cats’ safety and comfort, we’ll be closed for grooming that day and won’t have any grooming appointments. If you’re scheduled to check in or out of the hotel, I’ll reach out to you directly. We can arrange check-ins before 9 a.m. and pickups or check-ins in the afternoon, and we’ll do our best to avoid the busiest, noisiest time.
We’ll be tucked safely inside with the cats, watching the action from our building. We’ve been here four years this month, and I’m proud of what we’ve built! With lots changing downtown—and construction bringing a whole new flavor to parking and our busy seasons—we’re looking at possible locations for next year. Our lease runs through April 2027, so we’ll keep you posted as things unfold. 💛🐾🩵🐈⬛🫶😻
Join us for the Hotel Del Sol Demolition Ceremony!
The ceremony will take place Thursday, October 29, at 11 a.m. in the parking lot north of Hotel Del Sol (200 E. 3rd Street).
The project will transform the historic site into a multimodal transportation center, bringing rail, bus, and other transportation services together in downtown Yuma while preserving key historic architectural elements.
Due to nearby road closures, attendees can access the event site via Maiden Lane from either Giss Parkway or 1st Street. Parking will be limited, and carpooling is encouraged.
