Instead of sitting in a tea shop for a tasting, you will go directly to the place where Shan Tuyet tea begins.

Walk with a local Dao host through the mountain landscape and visit old Shan Tuyet tea trees growing naturally in Cao Bo.

Learn how local families recognize the right leaves and buds, how tea is harvested by hand, and why the mountain environment matters to the character of the tea.

Depending on the season and weather, you can experience different parts of traditional tea making — from picking fresh leaves, withering and processing the tea to finally brewing and tasting it together.

But perhaps the most important part of this experience is not a technique.

It is the people.

You will spend time with a local Red Dao family, hear our stories about tea, the mountains and daily life, and see how Shan Tuyet tea has been connected to generations of families living here.

TREKKING IN HA GIANG – EXPLORE THE MOUNTAINS WITH A LOCAL

If are looking for a trekking tour in Ha Giang that takes you beyond the usual tourist routes, come and walk with us in Cao Bo

Bikki’s Jungle Homestay is located in a quiet Dao village in the mountains, about 35 km from Ha Giang City. This is our home, and these are the forests and mountain trails we have known since childhood.

Our trekking routes take you through bamboo forests, ancient Shan Tuyet tea gardens, cardamom fields, rice terraces, streams and waterfalls. Along the way, you can learn about wild plants, local farming, tea and the daily life of Dao families living in the mountains.

There is no fixed sightseeing checklist.

We walk slowly, stop when we find something interesting, drink tea, talk with local people and experience the mountains as part of everyday life here.

Depending on the weather and your fitness level, we can arrange different trekking routes — from an easier walk around the villages to longer trails deeper into the forest.

After trekking, return to Bikki’s Jungle Homestay, have a home-cooked meal with our family, drink local Shan Tuyet tea and enjoy a quiet evening in the mountains.

Bikki’s Homestay: A Meaningful Way to Experience Ha Giang

Set inside a traditional wooden Dao stilt house at the far end of Cao Bo Valley, Bikki’s Jungle Homestay feels less like a place to sleep and more like an invitation into daily life in Vietnam’s northern highlands.

Built in the style of the local Dao community, the house stands above the ground on thick wooden stilts, with creaking floorboards, a wood-smoked kitchen, and sweeping views across rice terraces, ancient Shan Tuyet tea hills, and forested slopes where mornings often begin with mist drifting through the valley. The setting alone is reason enough to stay.

What makes a visit memorable, though, is not just the scenery, but the sense that you are stepping into everyday life rather than watching a version arranged for visitors. Meals are shared on the floor with the family, with dishes prepared from herbs and vegetables grown just outside the house.
