An excellent choice for vegan lovers, this wine comes from Sicily — the island located at the “toe” of Southern Italy’s boot. Guided by a philosophy of “Green to the Extreme,” the winery’s entire 50-hectare vineyard is fully certified organic.

Blended from 60% Catarratto and 40% Pinot Grigio, the wine beautifully captures the vibrant freshness that defines Sicilian white wines. Over the past five years, white wines from this region have consistently achieved outstanding Vintage Ratings thanks to the island’s remarkably stable and favorable climate, regularly scoring between 92–94 points — among the highest rankings for white wines in Italy.

In particular, the 2024 vintages currently selected by Ancient Huế are now at their perfect drinking stage — earning a Vintage Score of 94 points, the highest score recorded for Catarratto white wines in Sicily in more than 20 years, and also one of the highest scores ever awarded to white grape varieties across all of Italy. This makes the 2024 vintage especially remarkable: a wine with an exceptionally accessible price, yet a quality level that far surpasses its category.

According to Mariangela Cambria, president of Assovini Sicilia (the Sicilian wine producers association), 2024 was an extraordinary year because Sicily experienced a prolonged drought shortly before harvest. As a result, the grapes became smaller, more concentrated, sweeter, and ultimately higher in quality.

Its freshness and elegant lightness make it particularly well suited to delicate seafood dishes such as Spaghetti Alle Vongole. Within the Vietnamese–Hue culinary setting of Kim Long Dining, pairing it with traditional Hue-style clam soup can also create a surprisingly refined and memorable experience.

Trong hành trình Phú Mộng Walking Tour khám phá di sản làng Phú Mộng — vùng đất từng quy tụ nhiều phủ đệ quan lại triều Nguyễn,mang dấu ấn lịch sử gắn liền với các đời vua và chúa Nguyễn. Du khách có dịp ghé thăm xưởng nhỏ của ông Võ Ngọc Hùng, 67 tuổi — người nhiều năm theo đuổi việc làm nón từ lá bàng rừng.

Xuất phát từ niềm yêu thích nghệ thuật và sự kiên trì tìm tòi, trước đây ông từng thành công với kỹ thuật in tranh trên xương lá bồ đề. Từ quá trình nghiên cứu cách làm trong suốt lá, trong một lần đi rừng cùng bạn bè, ông nhận ra lá bàng rừng có kích thước lớn, độ dai tốt và có thể trở thành chất liệu làm nón. Để tạo ra được một chiếc nón hoàn chỉnh, ông Hùng phải dành rất nhiều thời gian lựa chọn từng chiếc lá phù hợp. Sau đó, ông mất gần nửa năm thử nghiệm và điều chỉnh kỹ thuật để xử lý phần xương lá đạt độ bền cần thiết.

Nguyên liệu không quá hiếm, nhưng việc thu nhặt lại khá vất vả. Ông thường tự mình lên các vùng núi ven thành phố để tìm lá đạt yêu cầu. Tính từ lúc ngâm lá, xử lý cho đến khi hoàn thiện công đoạn chằm nón, mỗi chiếc nón mất khoảng hai tháng mới hoàn thành. Những chiếc nón lá bàng rừng vì vậy không chỉ là sản phẩm thủ công, mà còn là kết quả của nhiều công sức, thời gian và sự tâm huyết của người nghệ nhân làng Phú Mộng.

As part of the Phu Mong Walking Tour, visitors explore the heritage village of Phu Mong — a historic area once home to numerous residences of Nguyen Dynasty mandarins, closely connected to generations of Nguyen lords and emperors.

During the journey, guests have the opportunity to visit the small workshop of Mr. Vo Ngoc Hung, 67, who has spent many years devoted to crafting hats from forest almond leaves.

Driven by a passion for art and persistent experimentation, Mr. Hung previously gained recognition for his technique of printing artworks on bodhi leaf skeletons. Through his research on creating translucent leaves, he discovered during a forest trip with friends that wild almond leaves, with their large size and natural durability, could become an ideal material for hat making.

Creating a single finished hat requires careful selection of each individual leaf. Mr. Hung spent nearly six months experimenting and refining his methods to produce leaf skeletons strong enough for practical use.

Although the materials themselves are not rare, collecting them is labor-intensive. He often travels to mountainous areas near the city to gather suitable leaves. From soaking and processing the leaves to the final hand-stitching, completing one hat takes approximately two months.

These forest almond leaf hats are therefore more than handcrafted objects; they represent patience, dedication, and the heartfelt commitment of a Phu Mong artisan to preserving local craftsmanship.

Huế Mùa Ngô Đồng

Đến Huế vào những ngày cuối xuân, khoác lên mình chiếc áo Nhật Bình cổ kính, dạo bước dưới những tán Ngô Đồng đang mùa hoa nở rộ là một trải nghiệm không thể bỏ lỡ.

Theo Chuyện truyền miệng mà người xứ Huế thường kể nhau nghe ngày xưa, chim phượng hoàng đất quý phái rất thích đậu trên cây ngô đồng bên trong hoàng cung triều Nguyễn.

Không chỉ vậy, cây Ngô Đồng còn được mệnh danh là "Vương Giả Chi Hoa" - loài hoa được vua Minh Mạng vô cùng yêu mến. Đây là một trong chín loài cây hoa quý được nhà vua cho khắc vào Cửu Đỉnh, biểu tượng cho vương quyền, và nghiêm cấm trồng ở bất kỳ nơi nào khác ngoài Kinh Thành và các lăng tẩm vua. Sách sử Đại Nam nhất thống chí cũng ghi rõ nguồn gốc của loài cây này, được đưa về từ Quảng Đông và trồng trongKinh Thành.

Sắc tím sậm của loài hoa này hợp với những tấm ngói Lưu Ly vàng chói đặc trưng của các công trình Vua tọa nên một màu rất đặc trưng của Kinh Thành Huế bao thế kỷ nay.

Coming to Huế in the late spring, draped in a classic Nhật Bình robe, and strolling beneath the canopies of Erythrina trees in full bloom is an experience you absolutely shouldn't miss.

According to local lore passed down through generations in Huế, the noble phoenix bird was particularly fond of perching on the Erythrina trees within the Nguyễn Dynasty's imperial palace.

Furthermore, the Erythrina tree is also known as the "Flower of Royalty" – a flower deeply cherished by Emperor Minh Mạng. It was one of the nine precious flower species that the emperor had engraved on the Nine Dynastic Urns, symbols of royal power, and its cultivation was strictly forbidden anywhere outside the Citadel and the royal tombs. The historical text "Đại Nam nhất thống chí" also clearly records the origin of this tree, stating that it was brought from Guangdong and planted within the Citadel.

The deep purple hue of these blossoms perfectly complements the characteristic brilliant golden Lưu Ly tiles of the royal architectural works, creating a very distinctive color palette for the Citadel of Huế that has endured for centuries.

Vegetarian cuisine in Huế has long reflected a quiet charm, characterized by its gentleness, simplicity, and refinement. Rather than relying on complex techniques, these dishes highlight the natural flavors of their ingredients. Vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, and familiar spices are thoughtfully combined to create a balanced taste that is subtle yet satisfying, allowing the original character of each ingredient to remain at the forefront.

In many Huế households, the tradition of eating vegetarian meals on the full moon days and the first days of the lunar month continues to be widely practiced. For local people, vegetarianism is not merely a dietary choice but also a spiritual and cultural habit that has been passed down through generations.

Inspired by this spirit, our vegetarian menu is created with the intention of recreating, in part, the elegance of Huế’s vegetarian cuisine—simple, gentle, and deeply rooted in cultural meaning.
