We have a cancelation this weekend so come and visit us 🧚🧛‍♀️

Waipu has a local trick or treat collection around some of the streets. This is a lovely family event that you can bring your kids to and stay at Makai Lodge. Dress them up and then relax. There are some great places to dine in the area and other activities too. Don't forget our beautiful beach too.

If music and concerts are something you'd like to do we are able to accommodate you. Waipu has two local groups arranging concerts in our town.
Waipu Caves Farm Park is hosting an opera in the caves on 31st October.
Classics at the Cove has a number of musical concerts in November set in their gardens, only a short walk from Makai Lodge. Have a look at their pages for further details.

The Waipu Gloworm Caves are a fantastic attraction in themselves let alone with the talent of these musicians! Book some accommodation at Makai Lodge and make a weekend of it. There are a few concerts in the glow worm caves on the calendar over summer.

Carina & Sam de Vetter - a soulful indie duo returning to Waipu Caves Farm Park for their second performance with us. This time, they’ll be taking their music deep underground into the breathtaking Starburst Cathedral.
Albi & The Wolves - bringing their energetic indie-folk sound to one of Northland’s most unique live music venues.
We’ll also have rising stars opening each half of the evening, showcasing exciting talent alongside our featured artists.
Imagine sitting deep underground, surrounded by incredible limestone formations and thousands of glowworms, while experiencing live music in the natural acoustics of the cave. The gentle sound of dripping water and the magical atmosphere of the Starburst Cathedral make this an experience unlike any other.

Do you feel like a holiday where you can use the opportunity to try new sports?

While on holiday at Makai Lodge, you can try out a new or current sport at one of the local clubs. They allow drop ins and show friendly hospitality to visitors.

Makai Lodge has been a bit quiet lately. Check your diaries and take advantage of the peace and quiet. We are taking bookings for summer, and I'm looking forward to it. We are catching up on some jobs around the place, gardens and staining the outdoor furniture is amongst my list of things to do.

Picture yourself sitting back with a cold drink in hand, looking at the view after a day at the beach - taking advantage of our hard work :-)

Check out the sunrise on Sunday morning from Makai Lodge! Sadly, the intense colour doesn't come out in the photos or video to show how amazing it was.

Sadly our guests didn't get to see it. That could be because:
😴The bed was so comfortable that they slept in
😴The hot bath under the stars at night made them extra sleepy
😴The sea air and sound of the ocean from their bedroom helped them sleep
😴The long relaxing walks or bike rides wore them out
😴The delicious meal they grabbed from the local restaurant helped them sleep well
😴They were so relaxed and hadn't slept so well in years!

Why don't you book for Summer and come and experience the sunrise yourself... or you can sleep through it too
