Ōhau Snow Fields is all about fun and friendliness where people are important. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere in the Day Lodge is one of community. Having skied down to the chair lift from the car park the "bottom lifty" will advise you where the best runs are and then he will be checking on your next run to see if he was right. The Day Lodge on the mountain has a log burner, a deck to admire the panorama, great food and espresso coffee.

A frosty start to the day! ❄️

Ōhau and the Mackenzie Country woke to a spectacular hoar frost this morning after temperatures dropped to -6°C. Every tree, fence post and blade of grass was transformed into a sparkling winter masterpiece.

They’re where your kids took their very first turns. Where you found your first powder day. Where lifelong friendships began on a chairlift. Where “one last run” somehow turned into five. Where every visit leaves you with another story to tell.

Opening Day 2026! ❄️
While we’re kicking things off with limited snow, we’re so stoked to get the lifts spinning and welcome everyone back to the maunga. The best part? The forecast is looking promising this weekend, with more snow on the way. 🤞🌨️
Winter is only just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what the season has in store 🏂⛷️💙

The cold temperatures just keep coming, and our snowmakers have been making the most of the conditions. The mountain is shaping up beautifully! ❄️

🎉 We’re planning to open on THURSDAY 2 JULY! ⛷️🏂

A huge thank you to our team for all their hard work getting the mountain ready, and to everyone who’s been patiently waiting. We can’t wait to welcome you back for fresh turns, mountain views, and another incredible winter at Ōhau Snow Fields!

As you might have guessed, despite the boys putting in the hard mahi on the snow guns, we simply don’t have enough snow to open this Saturday.

The good news is we’re forecast to receive a bit of natural snow tonight, and temperatures are looking excellent for snowmaking over the coming days.
We’ll now be aiming to open in the latter part of next week. Stay tuned for updates, and keep those snow dances going! ❄️💃🕺
