As we come to the end of another season at Grasmere, we’d like to say a huge thank you to our incredible staff and all of the guests who have visited, stayed, dined, and supported us over the past few months.

It’s been wonderful welcoming so many people to this special part of the high country and sharing the Grasmere experience with you all.

We’re now preparing for winter and already looking forward to reopening in spring on Wednesday 28th October 2026 for another great season ahead. 🌿

This weekend is your last chance to visit the Grasmere restaurant before we close for the winter season on Sunday.

If you’re travelling through the high country or looking for a reason to get out for the day, stop in for lunch, dinner, or even just a coffee and take in the views one more time before winter arrives.

Winter in the Southern Alps can be incredibly beautiful, but also unpredictable.

Snow, ice, and changing road conditions are all part of life in the high country, which is why Grasmere closes through the winter season each year.

Our last day of the season is this Sunday 31 May, and we look forward to reopening our doors on Wednesday 28th October 2026 for another season of high-country stays and dining. 🌿

Although our lodge and restaurant close over winter, Grasmere Station continues operating year-round as a working high-country farm.

Sheep, cattle, deer, alpacas, and other farm animals still need caring for through the colder months, regardless of snow or weather conditions.

We look forward to welcoming guests back when we reopen the lodge and restaurant on Wednesday 28th October 2026. 🌿
