What’s on at the wonderful The Stables Cafe & Shop @ Port Eliot this month. They are also open daily for breakfasts, lunch and cakes. New for October- they are offering to open the kitchen on Friday nights for parties of eight or more.

Craftsman Will talking about the work he’s doing to mend the frame of our royal carriage. His lovingly made joint is a thing of beauty. Of course it’s all constructed from sweet chestnut from our woodland, so the materials couldn’t be more local. Shame it will be all hidden in the end.

What a weekend it’s been in St Germans! Steam train on Friday that’s passing through St Germans again today at 12.50 and 6ish, the wonderful Salt And Sky Cornish Music music and dancing at St Germans Priory in the evening, then the Cornwall county YFC Harvest Festival yesterday evening followed by a personal favourite Russell Sinclair at The Stables Cafe & Shop @ Port Eliot - and the weekend is yet young! More steam and what promises to be a superb afternoon of choral music this afternoon when Truro Cathedral choir come to St Germans Priory at 4pm to sing. Programme covering a thousand years of choral song. I’ll be volunteering so will have a prime spot, but will miss the usually superb afternoon session at the Stables. How lucky are we to live in such a vibrant village.

It’s national car free day, and as we give all guests arriving without a car £50 off their holiday I felt this would be a good opportunity to post some gratuitous photos of trains…

There’s always lots happening in the St Germans area; weekly jam night at the Eliot arms, music at the Stables and events in the Priory, village hall and Halfway House in Polbathic. I’ve posted a blog about autumn events on Railholiday.uk. It will continue to be added to so do revisit (or let us know if you have an event you’d like featured!)
