Someone's feeling a little dramatic today.

This male wildebeest is putting on quite a performance, rubbing his head in the sand and calling loudly across the bush.

These displays are all part of territorial behaviour. During the breeding season, males advertise their presence with grunts, snorts, and scent-marking, letting rivals know exactly who is in charge of this patch of ground.

Do you think he's calling for the ladies or warning off the competition?

A cheetah's world extends far beyond the horizon. Unlike many big cats, cheetahs can have enormous home ranges, travelling vast distances in search of prey, mates, and suitable habitat.

Female cheetahs often roam across hundreds of square kilometres, while males may establish territories within these larger landscapes, using scent marking and prominent landmarks to communicate with rivals.

How far do you think a cheetah can travel in a single day?

Every footprint tells a story.

On World Environment Day, we're celebrating not just the animals we see, but also the clues they leave behind.

These are the tracks of a civet, a secretive, mostly nocturnal mammal that often goes unseen. For trackers, footprints like these reveal where an animal has been, what it was doing, and how it moves through its environment.

Not every bush snack is appetising.

This black-backed jackal has found a rather unusual meal, dung! While it might seem strange to us, jackals are opportunistic feeders and will eat almost anything they can find, including fruit, insects, carrion, and yes, even dung.

Would you have guessed this was on the jackal's menu?

A moment of calm for one of Mabula Private Game Reserve’s iconic male Cheetahs.

Watch closely as he grooms using his rough tongue, covered in tiny backwards-facing spines called papillae. These help cheetahs clean their fur, remove loose hair, and even strip meat from bones after a kill.

Built for speed and perfectly designed for survival.

A Malachite kingfisher perched near the dam, scanning the water for the perfect moment to strike. Despite their small size, these brilliant little kingfishers are incredibly skilled hunters, diving headfirst to catch fish, tadpoles, and aquatic insects with remarkable precision.

Bright colours, lightning-fast reflexes, and endless patience.
