100% Design Africa is far more than just an exhibition. As Africa’s only international design show, 100% Design Africa is the launchpad that the industry needs to enter onto the global stage. Through the spirit of exchange, this hybrid trade event brings key members of the interior industry together, showcasing all manner of contemporary designs from across the continent – from furniture and produ

ct design to specialised areas like art, literature, and crafts. As a phygital platform, 100% Design Africa combines the power of physical exhibition space and events, with the power of digital storytelling, enabling innovative ideas to be showcased in new and exciting ways. Through the use of technology, we’re able to make the trade fair a more dynamic and interactive space, with greater reach and relevance than ever before.

Future Talks, brought to you by Oggie Oak Flooring, returns to Decorex Africa Cape Town and 100% Design Africa with one of its most exciting programmes yet.

Across four days, the programme brings together the people shaping interiors, architecture, craft, objects, material culture, business and the future of African design.

For interiors, SOFT TOUCH opens the conversation around the softer interior language shaping homes now, while THE INTERIOR SHIFT brings ARRCC into focus with a look into their globally recognised residential work and the way interior architecture is redefining how we live.

For global exchange, Maison&Objet joins the program, with Paula Baúlde-Portas and Philippe Delhomme connecting Decorex Africa’s international relationships to the wider movement of design platforms, markets and ideas.

For architecture, 100% ARCHITECTURE: Building Wellbeing looks at how spatial thinking can support rest, care and healthier ways of living with a panel of the country's leading architects.

For objects and craft, celebrate the moment with all the biggest names in South African design with TEN X TEN, that goes inside the 100-object list, while 100% LOCAL looks at making and ritual in South African design.

For material and atmosphere, MATERIAL COMFORTS explores texture and tactility, while EXPERIENTIAL LIGHTING, hosted by lighting experience designer Martin Döller, looks at how light shapes mood, movement and experience.

For designers building what comes next, THE BUSINESS OF DESIGN and NEW VENTURES turn to practice, growth, visibility and the realities of building sustainable creative work.

This year's Future Talks is where the ideas behind the show become live: spoken, tested, challenged and shared.

Based between Johannesburg and Cape Town, Stephen Pikus Design has built a practice around one-of-a-kind handcrafted lighting made from recycled glass, wire and industrial metals, with work spanning residential projects, lodges, hospitality spaces and other commercial interiors.

What gives the studio its charge is the source material. In collections such as TRuK, used diesel truck air filters are transformed into sculptural fixtures; in BLoW, discarded truck cooling fans are reworked into large pendants and wall lights; and in Fire + Ice, pieces of recycled glass are strung into chandeliers and softer statement pieces.

Plenty of designers talk about sustainability in abstract terms. Pikus’s work makes it visible. The result is lighting that still carries the memory of its previous life, but arrives in a room with a very different kind of presence: harder-edged than decorative lighting, more atmospheric than raw salvage, and far more sculptural than the usual eco-design cliché.

Ten x Ten: Tiles.

Tiles are often spoken about as finishes. For Ten x Ten, we’re looking at them as design objects: pieces of pattern, surface, material, repetition and architecture.

This category is being shaped with two partners who understand surface in very different ways: Rialheim and Wolkberg Casting Studios

Rialheim brings a ceramic point of view rooted in clay, handwork, table culture and objects that carry feeling as well as function. For Ten x Ten, that sensitivity extends into how tile can hold story, tactility and use.

Wolkberg brings a material language shaped around casting, colour, texture and architectural surface. Their work shows how tile and surface can become spatial, sculptural and highly atmospheric.

At the show, the tile category will be presented through unique plinths created by each partner, giving visitors a closer look at the pieces, surfaces and details selected for Ten x Ten.

Not just something underfoot. Not just something on a wall. A category worth looking at closely.

This year, the 100% Design Restaurant at Decorex Cape Town becomes more than a place to dine.

Conceived by Loredana Morton Interiors, The Liquid Table is an immersive dining installation where food, materiality and atmosphere come together in one shared experience.

At the centre of the space is a monumental six-metre communal table, designed to shift the restaurant from a conventional layout into something more sculptural, social and unexpected.

Studio LMI were inspired for the concept by the current revival of stainless steel and liquid-metal finishes in contemporary design. The installation plays with contrast: mirrored surfaces, raw concrete and sculptural mesh forms are softened by sheer white curtains, fur ottomans and floral compositions in deep burgundy and metallic silver, while a liquid-metal fabric envelops the central table.

The result is a restaurant that feels both futuristic and tactile, cool and intimate, reflective and deeply human. A place to sit, gather, dine and experience design from the inside.

Textiles, wallpaper and the surfaces that change a room.

Some of the strongest design decisions in a room happen before the furniture arrives. Fabric. Curtain. Upholstery. Wall covering. Pattern. Texture. The surface that shifts the whole atmosphere.

At Decorex Africa Cape Town and 100% Design Africa, textiles and wall coverings come into focus across the floor, from established fabric houses to specialist wallpaper studios and feature installations.

Look out for ROMO South Africa, Robin Sprong Wallpaper, Fabric Bank, Stuart Graham Fabrics, African Jacquard, Constantia Fabrics, Pattern Pop and Wall to Wall.

You’ll also find fabric and surface conversations inside Future Talks, the Discovery South Africa South Africa Bank Home Loans DIY Studio, the Soft Life Pods and Ten x Ten.

Ten x Ten isn't being built as a simple list of beautiful things. For this new 100% Design Africa feature, the curatorial lens is being shaped with people who understand objects closely: how they are made, collected, lived with and valued over time.

For ceramics, one of those voices is Art Formes

Art Formes is a Cape Town gallery dedicated to contemporary ceramic art, founded by Olivia Barrell as a platform for clay, artists and the contemporary ceramic object.

For Ten x Ten, Art Formes brings a specialist eye to the ceramics category. It is a reminder that ceramics can be many things at once: vessel, sculpture, surface, ritual object, collectible work, tableware, memory, experiment and daily companion.

Art Formes will also be part of the wider Ten x Ten conversation at @ Future Talks, with David Adams and selected ceramic artists from the category. More on the talk soon.

INTERIOR SHIFT: How Residential Design Is Being Redefined in 2026 | Future Talks, brought to you by Oggie Oak Flooring

Interior architecture has become one of the most influential forces shaping how we experience residential space today. No longer confined to decoration or finish, it informs how we move, feel and live within our homes, balancing spatial intelligence with material integrity and a sensitivity to everyday life.

In this Future Talks session, ARRCC Senior Associate Quintin Gilman draws on a portfolio of internationally recognised residential projects to explore how these principles are translated into practice.

The conversation examines how contemporary interiors can balance architectural rigour with emotional resonance, and why the most enduring design solutions are often rooted in thoughtful, considered responses rather than passing trends.
