The quagga once roamed the Karoo and Southern Free State regions of South Africa but was hunted to extinction in the 19th century. Today, the Quagga Project is working to revive its distinctive appearance through selective breeding of plains zebras.

With the Berg River right alongside Quagga River Lodge, a little time with a fishing rod can become part of the day's plan. The lower Berg River offers year-round fishing, making it a lovely way to enjoy the surroundings between exploring the area and relaxing back at your chalet.

Day visits to Quagga River Lodge are now available, providing you with the opportunity to join a game drive and discover the wildlife that lives on the property. Keep an eye out for quaggas, springbok, giraffe, and other animals as you explore the landscape.

Game drives are offered daily at a cost of R495 per person, weather permitting, and reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
