๐ฟ World Environment Day
This World Environment Day, we're celebrating what can happen when partnerships invest in nature.
Arabella Hotel Golf & Spa and the Kogelberg Biosphere have been working together to clear invasive alien vegetation and restore indigenous fynbos habitats on the Arabella property.
These efforts help protect biodiversity, improve water security, reduce wildfire risk and ensure that this extraordinary landscape remains a place of natural wonder, especially in the face of a changing climate.
But perhaps most exciting are the signs of nature's response.
One of the species benefiting from this work is Erica patersonia, an Endangered fynbos species threatened by habitat loss and invasive alien vegetation. Itโs known from only four locations โ most of these in the Kogelberg Biosphere. Weโre excited to therefore see on-the-ground conservation action deliver real results.
In recent months, we have also seen encouraging signs of recovery from other Proteaceae species, including ๐๐ฆ๐ถ๐ค๐ฐ๐ด๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฎ ๐ค๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฅ๐ช๐ง๐ฐ๐ญ๐ช๐ถ๐ฎ, ๐๐ฆ๐ถ๐ค๐ฐ๐ด๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฎ ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ด๐ต๐ณ๐ข๐ต๐ถ๐ฎ, ๐๐ณ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฆ๐ข ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐จ๐ช๐ง๐ฐ๐ญ๐ช๐ข and ๐๐ณ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฆ๐ข ๐ด๐ค๐ข๐ฃ๐ณ๐ข.
And the work continues. The Kogelberg Biosphere has once again received support through the Western Cape Department of Agriculture LandCare Programme for the 2026/27 financial year, enabling further initial and follow-up clearing on the Arabella and Ithemba properties.
Together, we are investing in the Overberg for more resilient landscapes.
