From the bush to the coast — our journey through the Morukuru Family Madikwe continues.
This time, we’re heading to the spectacular De Hoop Nature Reserve, where Morukuru Ocean House offers an entirely different kind of South African wilderness experience.
Set against pristine white dunes with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean, this exclusive-use private house combines five-star luxury with an off-grid approach to sustainability. With beautifully appointed ocean-facing rooms, a private pool, rooftop terrace, wine cellar and a dedicated team taking care of every detail, it’s a place designed for families and groups to truly settle in and make it their own.
And then there’s everything waiting beyond the house…
Explore the coastline on guided marine walks, snorkel in protected rock pools, cycle through the reserve, walk amongst the fynbos, try sandboarding on the dunes or head out on a nature drive in search of eland, bontebok and Cape mountain zebra.
Between July and November, there’s another extraordinary reason to visit: De Hoop is one of South Africa’s remarkable land-based whale-watching destinations, with Southern Right whales gathering along this stretch of coastline.
Private, wild and wonderfully remote — Morukuru Ocean House shows just how diverse a luxury South African escape can be.
