Art is the wistful soul of Ellerman House. Our unrivalled South African art collection has been meticulously collected and curated to tell the diverse story of our nation. The works span over two centuries, from Thomas Bowler commemorating Cape Town in the 1800s to more recent pieces from artists such as William Kentridge and his striking social commentary work in our Contemporary Art Gallery. Our in-house art guides are available to tour guests through South Africa's most important art collection, as she maps out the history of our nation. Tours to galleries throughout the city can also be arranged, where special private access is afforded to our guests.
