It’s not my most photogenic series ever - the sky was too hazy and the views were too impressive to capture. But this hazy sky made it a perfect day for a hike, yes: a hike!! A 6h hike!
I took a day off today, a day just for me. Which started with the coffee that you see at the end 😊
The last 2 days would have been way too hot btw, and as this morning the clouds lifted a bit, I decided to go for it 💪

The intention was to just climb up Noordhoek peak, eat my lunch and enjoy the views, descend Blackburn side and go back to starting point. But because the last time I did this hike was many many years ago, I accidentally took another route at the top and found myself at the Eagles’ Nest trail. A-mazing but joh, not exactly like the jeep track 😂 Add to that the contour path that is never ending, but well, so worth it…

Also, you see a picture of the trail sign! Worth to look this one up, it’s a 5 day hike from Table Mountain all the way to Cape Point 🤩🤩

Our annual outing and upon popular demand, this year’s destination was… Robben Island! And for me also the perfect reason to visit, at last 😅😅🙈 (yes red cheeks now 🫠).
I’ve heard so many mixed stories about it and it takes so much of your time, that it just never happened… but well: it was worth the trip!
Maybe also because we had all elements in our favour: the quick boat, beautiful winter weather, we sat outside on the back deck (the views!!) and our guides were good and spoke clearly.
I found it just: too short in time. Especially for the prison visit there was hardly any time to soak it all up. That’s a missed opportunity, in my eyes at least.
But would I recommend it now: yes. We don’t have to hang in the past, we must move forward. But let’s never forget what has once happened, even not so long ago…

Not a nice day in sight in the coming days (maybe Monday?), so no other option than to unglue myself from my laptop and go for a quick outing to grab some vitamine D! I left too late to make it to the top and suddenly some clouds popped up, but still… It’s about time to go up my mountain again.
