There are few better ways to begin the day than over a leisurely breakfast. Included in every stay, guests can choose between the Veld & Vine Bistro or Koffiehuis. Both are also open to the public, making them as much part of the neighbourhood as they are of the hotel.

Our kitchen works closely with local farmers and producers, allowing the season to shape the menu. Whether it’s organic eggs, freshly baked pastries or fruit harvested at its peak, all celebrate the Western Cape’s finest produce.

One of the more fascinating threads in The Claremont Boutique Hotel's story is its connection to South Africa's wine heritage. The Manor was designed in 1928 by pioneering architect Magda Sauer, who was raised between Cape Town and her family's historic wine farm, Uitkyk, in Stellenbosch. Wine was rooted in the Sauer family: her brother, Paul Sauer, went on to establish Kanonkop Wine Estate, today regarded as one of South Africa's most celebrated wineries and the birthplace of the iconic Paul Sauer Bordeaux blend, while her mother's Cloete family were among the early owners of Groot Constantia.

Today, that heritage continues in a contemporary expression of South African wine culture. At Veld & Vine Bistro, the wine list celebrates exceptional local producers, with a particular focus on the nearby Constantia Valley alongside renowned estates from Stellenbosch and beyond. Rather than simply offering an extensive cellar, the hotel's philosophy is to tell the story behind every bottle, encouraging guests to discover the people, places and traditions that have shaped South African wine over centuries.

Although The Claremont Boutique Hotel has been beautifully restored, it still carries the unmistakable character of the grand private residence it was designed to be. The elegant lounges invite conversations by the fireplace, the gardens encourage slow afternoons and the pace is refreshingly residential rather than a traditional hotel.
