Numbi Valley, a permaculture farm near De Rust, has one private pet friendly guest cottage on a 70ha regenerative land space. Only 30km from Oudtshoorn, 80km from George. The veld is full of wild flowers at the moment, and there are still 3 nights available next week 7th, 8th and 9th and 4 nights 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th September before a fully booked October except for the 7th and 8th. Happiest Spring Day to all of you 🌸
It has been a remarkable season of growth in the Klein Karoo, the fabulous rain and warm winter has created abundant growth and incredible flowers(wowza!)and left us with a feeling of true regeneration of the land. What a wonderful journey it has been since 2004 when we stepped onto a barren piece of overgrazed mismanaged land
May this coming spring plant seeds of kindness towards all our communities; from people to insects to plants.
My wish is that as people we develop greener habits for our planet, making changes where we can to ditch the plastic, reduce the consumption, increase the wild spaces, cherish the dark skies, reduce the use of concrete, increase diversity in our gardens, put a stop to the use of poisons in food production and homes. That we consider deeply the impact our choices have, and that they inspire a deeper care for our shared natural environment 🦋🍃🐸🐾🐌🪲

A bite of Sunshine ☀️ and one of my absolute favorite fruit 💛
Cape gooseberries (Physalis peruviana), known locally in South Africa as appelliefies, come wrapped in their own little paper lanterns✨Inside hides a vibrant, golden-orange berry that has a delicious sweet-tart flavor. It tastes like a tropical mix of citrus, pineapple, and mango all at once.
They are super easy to grow, prolific and can become almost w**d like. It is also possible to grow them in pots
Commercially grown blueberries and strawberries frequently contain residues of organophosphate insecticides like phosmet and malathion, as well as various synthetic fungicides and herbicides used to protect the soft fruit from pests, fungi, and w**ds. I never eat shop bought berries for this reason, not to mention the single use plastic produced for every 50g of fruit 😔 I mean where does all that plastic go?
Rather grow a few berries of your own.
