Epitomising the gourmet capital of South Africa, La Residence is unashamedly the very best on offer. La Residence is located in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley and represents the epitome of luxury. La Residence joined Royal Malewane and Birkenhead House as the third property in Liz and Phil Biden's Royal Portfolio in 2008. The hotel consists of 11 distinctive and luxurious suites and each room ha
s its own identity with a unique character and individual colour scheme. Liz’s impeccable style and never-ending attention to detail have resulted in a lavish and luxurious, yet remarkably homely and comfortable, feeling throughout. The farm currently grows a great variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Our kitchen uses our produce for their seasonally inspired menus and has access to an abundance of plums, hanepoot grapes, figs, pomegranates, lemons, artichokes, tomatoes, quince, lettuce, squashes and leafy green vegetables, as well as several herbs, to name but a few. We also grow two varieties of olives on our farm. Our frantoio olives are pressed for their fruity, aromatic oil and our mission olives are cured and served from our kitchen. Our vineyards occupy a large portion of our small 30-acre farm. We grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grapes and our maiden 2010 vintage was bottled on 2 January 2011. The vines are cared for and maintained by our farming staff. Come harvest time, our grapes are sent off to a local wine farm, where they are crushed, fermented, stabilised and bottled by local winemaker DP Burger. The five Vineyard Suites are family friendly and each is unique in its configuration and décor. The suites are fully serviced and our chef is on hand to prepare seasonally inspired rustic French country cuisine in The Terrace Room.
