Today we raise a glass to the vines that have quietly shaped this corner of the valley for generations. 🍇

Nestled between mountain views, olive groves, and the gentle rhythm of farm life, lies 3 hectares of treasured old vine Chardonnay — rooted deeply in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley.

On this International Chardonnay Day, we celebrate not only the wine these vines produce, but the landscape they call home. Seasons pass, guests come and go, but the vines remain — elegant, enduring, and unmistakably Franschhoek.

At Auberge Clermont, we are fortunate to share our farm with these remarkable old vines, where every sunrise over the vineyards feels like part of a story still being written.

Love.

Everyone loves love.

This weekend at Auberge Clermont, we were reminded why.

Against the backdrop of the vines and mountains of Franschhoek Valley, one very thoughtful guest worked quietly with our team to plan a surprise that would become a lifelong memory.

A question was asked.
A joyful “yes” followed.
And just like that, our farm became part of a love story.

From choosing the perfect spot, to helping set the scene, our staff were honoured to play a small role in such a beautiful moment.

Because sometimes a guesthouse is more than a place to stay.
Sometimes, it becomes the place where forever begins.

As the rain settles over the valley and the wintery cold seeps in, there’s a different kind of warmth waiting inside Auberge Clermont.

Wine made right here on the farm, and a fire quietly crackling in the background — the kind of simple comfort that feels like a small luxury on days like these.

While the weather outside may be wet and wintry, the hospitality, atmosphere, and friendly faces here remain warm, welcoming, and wonderfully inviting.

At Auberge Clermont, life follows the quiet rhythm of the land.

Under the recent full moon, we wandered through the olive grove and chose to let nature tell us when the harvest should begin. Rather than rushing the season, we listened — to the trees, the light, and the gentle cues of the orchard itself.

In the video, we meander through the grove as if on a quiet, purposeful search, seeking the first ready fruit and discovering our Leccino olives waiting patiently for their moment. Over the coming weeks, we will harvest in small, careful batches as our Frantoio — the heart of the grove — ripens in its own time.

By harvesting this way, our oil will carry the full expression of the olive, from bright, green notes to deeper, rounded flavours. A true reflection of the season, the moon, and the land our guests get to call home, even if only for a little while.
