Sunrise Ride
Before the world had found its voice,
I rose to greet the dawn,
My mountain bike ready to go,
Through the coolness of the morn.
The hills of KZN lay quiet,
Wrapped in shades of deepest blue,
While far below the Indian Ocean
Waited for the sun to break through.
Then slowly, from the eastern horizon,
A golden fire began to rise,
Painting waves with molten colours,
Setting light across the skies.
From our home above the shoreline,
The view stretched endless, wild and free,
As crimson clouds and silver waters
Danced upon the waking sea.
The breeze carried the scent of salt air,
The day still fresh, untouched, brand new,
And for a moment time stood still
Beneath that vast and glowing hue.
No photograph could truly capture
The beauty nature chose to show—
A gift bestowed on early risers,
A quiet splendour few may know.
So I rode on with grateful spirit,
Heart refreshed and soul set free,
Thankful for a KZN sunrise
And a home that overlooks the sea.
