The Garden Route could be in for a distinctly damp weekend, with several current weather models predicting showers or periods of rain from Saturday into Sunday - but exactly how much rain will fall remains far from certain.

Anyone who has lived on the Garden Route for long enough will know that a forecast can sometimes be less of a promise and more of a suggestion.

So True!

So True!

MENS MENTAL HEALTH - The deepest pain a man can carry is the feeling of being completely unseen while carrying everything.

Silence isn't strength; it’s isolation. True resilience isn't pretending the storm isn’t there—it’s having the absolute courage to say, "I need a hand over here."

If you are struggling right now, your story isn’t finished. The world needs you here.
Reach out. Speak to a mate. Drop the armor.
If you don't know who to call, remember the numbers below are free, confidential, and available 24/7.

We've been conditioned to believe that a man’s value is solely tied to what he can provide, fix, or endure. So when things start to crack behind closed doors, the automatic response is to retreat into isolation.
But isolation is a trap.

Vulnerability isn’t a weakness—it’s the ultimate act of self-reliance. It is the moment you decide your life is worth fighting for.

Check on your friends. The ones laughing the loudest, the ones working the hardest, and the ones who have gone unusually quiet. Let’s change the narrative from silent endurance to real, open connection.
You do not have to carry the weight of the world alone.

Originally rehabilitated from a dumping ground in 1988, the Pledge Nature Reserve is a great example of community-driven conservation. From removing all alien vegetation, to building ponds, paths and bridges, everything (beautiful) that you'll see at Pledge is thanks to the efforts of our passionate and dedicated community.

But things have not always been easy. Following the devastating 2017 fires, the recent storms and municipal funding cuts, Pledge is once again at a critical turning point. We are currently in another major rejuvenation phase, with a few new volunteers and sponsors and lots of new plans. But unfortunately, we can't do all of this without a bit more help.

So, if you could also somehow feel an urge to assist in any way... then that would be amazing! If you are prepared to help us, then could you please email me (Paul Bruins) at [email protected]. I'll then send you a PDF file explaining why any of this should matter to everyone.

We always appreciate every effort and donation that anyone could offer us, no matter how big or small. You will always be remembered. Thanks in advance. 😊
