Lionesses are the primary hunters within a pride, often working together to increase their chances of successfully taking down prey. Moving side by side also allows them to stay connected as they patrol their territory, search for opportunities, and keep track of the pride.

There’s something special about watching them walk towards you: unhurried, focused and completely at home in the wild.

A quiet moment of inspection from one of the bush’s most impressive residents. 🐘🌿

This bull elephant takes his time investigating the grass around camp, using his incredible sense of smell and sensitive trunk to assess what’s on offer. An elephant’s trunk is a remarkable tool, used for smelling, touching, gathering food, drinking, and even communicating.

Bull elephants are often solitary, spending much of their time moving between different areas in search of food and water. Having one wander through camp is a wonderful reminder that the wilderness doesn’t stop at the camp boundary.

There’s a quiet confidence to a leopard at rest. 🐆

With its spotted coat blending seamlessly into the dappled shade, this elusive predator can lie almost unnoticed while remaining alert to everything happening around it. Leopards are masters of stealth, often spending the heat of the day resting before becoming more active as temperatures cool.

A peaceful moment on the surface, but beneath those watchful eyes is a highly adaptable hunter, perfectly equipped for life in the African bush. 🌿

Always ready for an opportunity, honey badgers know that a meal doesn’t always have to be hunted from scratch. 🦡🦅

These opportunistic scavengers were keeping a close eye on a Goshawk overhead, hoping a scrap might fall from its talons. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the interconnected nature of the bush, where one animal’s leftovers can become another’s meal.

Honey badgers are known for their bold, resourceful nature, and they’re remarkably adaptable feeders, eating everything from insects and small mammals to reptiles, birds and carrion.

Sometimes, survival is simply about being in the right place at the right time and keeping a very close eye on what’s happening above you. 🌿

A lion’s roar can travel several kilometres across open country, helping individuals locate one another, advertise territory and signal their presence to neighbouring prides or rival males. It can also help strengthen social bonds within a pride, particularly when several lions roar together.

And sometimes, the best place to make your presence known is right in the middle of the road. This lion settles into the path before breaking the stillness with a deep, powerful roar, a reminder that in the wild, we are simply visitors in their world. 🌿
