Well… this is not the most flattering angle for this graceful giraffe. 😅

Did you know giraffes have to spread their legs wide and bend down like this to drink because their necks are too short to reach the ground straight on? In this position they are at their most vulnerable, so they drink quickly and stay alert the whole time.

Southern ground hornbills walk slowly through grass like this, hunting on foot. They eat insects, scorpions, snakes, small mammals, tortoises and even other birds. They use that heavy bill to grab prey, shake it hard and often smash it against the ground before swallowing it whole.

They often rest on sandbanks like this to regulate body temperature. Their skin produces a natural red fluid that acts like sunscreen and helps protect them from drying out. By late afternoon, they head back to the water and then graze for hours at night.
