Talk about biting off more than you can chew... 😅🐦🦗

This little lilac-breasted roller looks like it's trying to eat a grasshopper that forgot to skip leg day! Those long legs might look awkward, but they'll soon be bashed against a branch and turned into a much easier meal.

Rollers are expert aerial hunters, swooping down from a perch to catch insects, lizards and even small snakes before heading back to enjoy their catch.

This African wild dog is wearing a tracking collar, and it could be one of the most important tools in saving one of Africa's most endangered predators.

In the Kruger National Park, conservation teams fit GPS and VHF collars to selected wild dogs so they can monitor pack movements, survival, breeding success and threats such as snaring or disease. The data also helps guide anti-poaching patrols and allows wildlife managers to protect den sites during pup season.

With fewer than 7,000 African wild dogs left in the wild, every collared individual helps scientists learn more about the species and gives these remarkable hunters a better chance of survival.

Every sighting is special, but a collared wild dog is also a reminder of the dedicated people working behind the scenes to keep this species on Africa's landscapes.

Thanks to a shock-absorbing skull and a tongue that can wrap around the back of its head, it can hammer thousands of times a day without getting a headache!

Did you know?

This little bird is a Crested Francolin, and despite spending most of its life on the ground, it's a surprisingly capable flier. Instead of taking off gradually, it explodes into the air with a loud burst of wingbeats when startled—often giving unsuspecting safari-goers quite a fright!

They also sleep in trees at night to stay safe from predators, only returning to the ground at first light to forage for seeds, insects, bulbs and berries.
