Situated in the secluded Kamberg Valley, close enough to enjoy the Midlands Meander or the Rock Art at Kamberg, while superb hiking can be done on the Reserve or at Highmoor Reserve, only 5 kilometres away. Experience fine dining based on the rich African culture and its diverse cuisine. Bush dinners are also served on the deck in the indigenous forest, a perfect setting to experience the wonders of this National Heritage site. The lodge have two luxury rooms inside the lodge, equally appointed as the three superior garden suites with private decks overlooking the garden and mountain. All rooms are en-suite with bath and shower facilities. Two hours’ drive from Durban and four hours’ drive from Johannesburg.

What a fantastic day with Cheryl from Sugar Baron Craft Distillery!

Cheryl spent the day with our team sharing her knowledge, passion and a few secrets of the trade — from mixing the perfect cocktail to understanding wine, pairing it with food and, of course, enjoying a few tastings along the way!

We genuinely believe that great hospitality starts with a great team, and that means giving them the opportunity to learn from people who are experts in what they do. Sugar Baron produces some of the best rum around and represents an incredible selection of wines, so being able to learn directly from Cheryl was a real treat.

It’s not just about offering our guests a great selection. It’s about understanding what we are serving, knowing how to pair it, and being able to create something memorable for every guest who stays with us.

Cheryl, thank you for spending the day with us, for sharing your knowledge and for making it so much fun. We absolutely loved having you at Qambathi!

Today is international vulture day.

Not the prettiest bird. Not the most glamorous. But one of the most important.

Vultures are nature’s clean-up crew. They play a vital role in keeping ecosystems healthy by removing carcasses, reducing the spread of disease and returning nutrients to the environment.

Here in the kamberg valley, we’re lucky to share our landscape with these incredible birds — and we’re working to give them an even safer place to do what they do best.

We’re currently building a dedicated vulture hide at qambathi, creating an opportunity to observe these magnificent birds up close while supporting their conservation.

Because sometimes protecting nature starts with appreciating the animals that are easiest to overlook.

The vultures deserve a seat at the table too.

What a wonderful day yesterday was! We had the absolute pleasure of learning etiquette from one of South Africa’s culinary giants, Jackie Cameron.

Every member of our team took something meaningful away from the training — from plate positioning, to wine culture and the art of setting a table beautifully.
