To capture the amethyst shimmer on a black sunbird, you need just the right amount of light. Without it, the bird appears almost ordinary. Then, for a fleeting moment, the sunlight catches its throat and reveals a brilliance that was there all along.
Life can be much the same. In difficult seasons, beauty often feels hidden, as though the colours have faded from the world. Yet gratitude has a way of changing the light. It does not erase hardship, but it helps us notice the sparkle that still exists in the smallest details.
Being grateful for every little wonder in this vast multiverse has saved me more times than I can count. The call of a bird, a kind smile from a stranger, a cup of coffee, a sunset, a moment of peace. These tiny fragments of beauty became the light that revealed hope when I needed it most.
Sometimes survival is not about finding one extraordinary reason to keep going. Sometimes it is about noticing a thousand ordinary miracles and allowing them to illuminate the day.
