23 Ambleside Retreat 23 Ambleside is our place of peace and tranquility where you can nod off to the sound of the waves........ as well as grassed areas where they can run and play.

Thank you for visiting our page and considering our establishment for your next vacation! We look forward to sharing our place of happiness with you! There is ample paved area for the kiddies to ride tricycles etc. There is a pool and trampoline. We are only 70 meters from the beach for a quite, leisurely day with your loved ones. The swimming beach with lifeguards are a 9 minute walk further up t

he beach. A favorite fishing spot is some 60 meters in the opposite direction - easy identifiable by a prominent rocky outcrop into the waves.

3rd Avenue Pub & Grill is literally walking distance straight up the road and has a lovely outdoor play area for kids with Jungle gym where you can also sit and enjoy their offerings while keeping a watchful eye over your children. There is a local Quick Spar only 2.4 km's away where there are another two restaurants to try (Schooners and Jaxx's)! The Oribi Plaza Shopping Centre is 4.9 km's away for your Pick 'n Pay, Clicks etc as well as Hilltop Spar next door for serious shopping! A "city-style" mall can be found at the new Southcoast Mall just off the N2 offramp to Shelly Beach (13.9 km or 15 min drive via N2). There is also the Shelly Centre with Ster Kinekor which most holidaymakers to the South Coast are familiar with. The Port Shepstone Country Club is great for golfers and squash players, and also has a very nice restuarant and pub. Very popular with both visitors and the locals! San Lameer Country Club is 37km's for those that have it on their golfing bucket list! Very few places on the South Coast do not have the notorious "railway line" to negotiate when taking a walk to the beach - no such problem here! You literally walk out our front gate onto Marine drive to gain access to the beach. It is a very quite part of Tweni where older kids can quite safely "play in the street" on bicycles etc. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need any further information; we will gladly assist!

A small thing worth sharing this morning. 🌸
At 8:35 our water lily was still a closed bud sitting over the pond — and just a little while later she'd opened completely to the sun. No rush, no fuss, right on her own time. (The garden cat supervised the whole thing from his usual spot.)

Winter mornings on the South Coast hit different. 🌅

I walked the beach again at sunrise today and saw my whale — breached clean out of the water, just past the backline. From now through November the humpbacks pass close to shore on their way north, and there's no crowd to share the view with.

This is the quiet season. Empty beaches, golden light, coffee on the deck, the dog at your feet (yes — we're pet-friendly 🐾).
