MAKING COLOUR TOGETHER
Most of us think of colour as something we buy. It comes in tubes, jars, packets, and bottles, ready to use.
But colour can also come from the landscape around us.
This workshop is an opportunity to spend a morning exploring how earth becomes pigment, how pigment becomes paint, and how simple everyday materials can be transformed into creative tools.
We'll work with earth pigments, natural binders, and handmade surfaces. We'll experiment, play, make marks, and see what happens when we approach familiar materials with a little curiosity.
Along the way we'll learn a few traditional techniques and celebrate the remarkable colours of the Southern Drakensberg.
You don't need any artistic experience.
Just a willingness to explore, experiment, and get your hands dirty.
Optional: Bring a small sample of earth from your garden or a place that means something to you.
Celebrating the colours of the Southern Drakensberg through earth, pigment, and traditional craft.
