Few & Far Luvhondo is a place that reconnects us with what makes us feel  alive, nourished, and connected.

The Soutpansberg mountains invite us to put down the busy-ness and the racing noise of the world, and to let the ancient mountains ground and nurture us.

To create a space to connect with ourselves and the wilderness through experience, adventure, and gently guided practices. Sunrise yoga and meditation on the deck… breathwork beside the river, or simply a warm cup in your hands as you start the morning mindfully, with a view.

The magic finds you once you slow down enough to notice.

Imagine a late morning walk through the Soutpansberg Mountains, simply allowing yourself to be immersed in the Luvhondo wilderness.

You notice a crested guinea fowl through the undergrowth. A rock hyrax peering out from between the rocks. A spotted eagle owl settled on a cliff face. A dwarf mongoose pausing mid-forage to clock your presence…

When the background chatter of the mind settles, something opens up. You stop moving through nature and start being in it. And somewhere in that stillness, you find your way back to yourself.

Pan-seared duck | confit duck leg croquette | duck xo

A taste of the Soutpansberg, told through a seven course journey, with our foraging tasting menu.

The herb crust is made with dried hibiscus leaves, foraged from the surrounding landscape, while finely chopped mountain herbs are folded into the croquette. Every part of the duck is used, including the bones, allowing the dish to honour both the ingredient and the place it comes from.

At Few & Far Luvhondo, dining is another way to experience the ecosystem.

Not only through sight and sound, but through taste, scent, and texture.

Safari means 4x4s… Right?

How about a human powered 1x2?

Without lions on the property, you get to move through the Soutpansberg completely silently, getting your heart rate up.

Imagine starting a safari with a bicycle and a climb. Moving through the bush under your own power changes how you see it.

The giraffe browsing the treeline simply looks at you curiously. The landscape doesn't part for you. You're just another animal passing through.

No safari would be complete without a sundowner.

To conclude a day full of activities and adventure with a craft gin and tonic as the sun dips below the Luvhondo outcrops (yes, of course we offer alcohol free craft gin as an option)

Watching the gold meet the blue over the Soutpansberg as you share moments with loved ones, reflecting on the day and letting yourself be filled with gratitude for another day of exploring the wild.

Arriving in the Soutpansberg feels like an exhale.

It marks a time and a place to let the busyness of the outside world rest.

To switch off your devices, take off your watch, and remember the timeless feeling of being a human standing amongst the mountains and the trees, letting nature restore and nourish us.

Few & Far Luvhondo wouldn’t be what it is without these gentle titans of the Soutpansberg, as the lodge is nestled between, and designed around them.

To lay your hand on the gnarled yet smooth skin of the baobabs in the Soutpansberg, is to feel the presence of these giant grandmothers of Luvhondo, and sometimes even to let yourself be enveloped by them.

The one behind the lodge, has been speculated to be over 3000 years old, and is one of the largest we know of in Southern Africa, it has a cave inside it that is big enough to stand upright in.

Rising before the sun to start the morning consciously. To catch a glimmer of presence in the twilight zone before the busyness of the mind gets the better of us. Resting for a moment in the dawn chorus with an open heart and a lightness of spirit.

Taking in the vast magnificence of the Soutpansberg dawn soundscapes… a cricket still chirping before turning in for the day… a flock of spurfowl cheerfully announce their awakening over the Luvhondo Valley.

These are the kind of mornings that celebrate the Soutpansberg’s restful, restorative spirit, and the moments that when we go home, linger as a subtle spark behind our eyes, and a sudden lightness in our step that may not have been there before…

Charred heirloom carrot | smoked honey | buffalo thorn chips.

A feast from nature: Just one of the seven courses from our fine foraged degustation. The journey starts much earlier in the afternoon, when we’re guided on an immersive bush walk, to forage our ingredients.

Buffalo thorn leaves, for the first course. A masterfully crafted blend of luxury fine dining and local Soutpansberg wilderness.

Feel the Soutpansberg… Vhudziki spa allows us to experience the Luvhondo mountains in ways that have never been done before.

A bath steeped in the salt from these very mountains, decorated with bougainvillea flowers from Paradise Farm… the oils from the baobab trees, a cup of relaxing, restorative tea made from resurrection bush foraged on these mountains.

This allows us to experience this beautiful environment in dimensions never explored before. Touch, smell, sensation, to allow ourselves to be immersed in the mountain and to be nourished and healed by it.

Each detail brings you closer… something you feel on your skin… something you breathe in, something you taste, and soak into…

Vhudziki offers a more intimate way to be held by the mountains.
