Reflections Eco-Reserve is situated in the Rondevlei within the Garden Route's Wilderness Lakes District, Western Cape, South Africa.

A designated 'Ramsar site' holding global wetland and biodiversity significance. 4 luxury, self catering guest chalets and 2 beautiful, en suite Glamping tents on an 80 hectare private nature reserve, with a focus on environmental sustainability. Great mountain biking, walks and bird watching.

Happy World Environment Day!

Reflections is a conservation-led eco-reserve in the Wilderness Lakes, lying on the Rondevlei in the Garden Route.

Here, restored wetlands and recovering landscapes create a space to slow down, reconnect with nature, and feel renewed within one of South Africa's most important natural environments.

Wining and dining on the Garden Route.

The Garden Route is known for its artisanal coffee shops and restaurants.

Tuck into delectable baked goods, break sourdough bread with a loved one, or have sundowners at one of the beachfront restaurants.

Many of our guests love a good wine tasting, and one of our top recommendations is Herold Wines.

Less than an hour and a half from Reflections Eco-Reserve, Herold Wines is tucked between the Outeniqua Mountain Range, which means you get breathtaking views while sipping a delicious variety of handcrafted wines.

Other than wine tasting, guests can explore more of the mountain range with a hike along one of their mountain trails and grab a pizza or cheese platter from their bistro.

A stay in our glamping tents along the Rondevlei includes a cosy setting for you and your loved one, filled with mornings drinking coffee on your deck, and evenings chatting around your private fire pit.

Take a drive to the beach for a snorkel or a sunbathe on the sand, go wine tasting at some of our favourite wine estates, and have a hearty dinner at one of the restaurants by our reserve.

If you'd rather not drive anywhere, Reflections Eco-Reserve is the best place to unwind, take a leisurely stroll along our trails, or go on a guided hike with Tim, our specialist guide and reserve owner, to learn more about our rehabilitation process and the life of our reserve.

Reflections Eco-Reserve is a peaceful escape along the Garden Route, just outside Wilderness.

In 2007, the first conservation steps were taken to return this degraded landscape to ecological health. Invasive alien plants were removed across the reserve, beginning with 27 hectares. Thereafter, pioneer trees were planted in a process of biomimicry to kickstart the recovery of the Critically Endangered Knysna Sand Fynbos.

More than 3,500 trees were planted, helping to stabilise soil and create shelter. Over time, nature took on much of the restoration through bird-dispersed seed and wildlife movement. Now birds, insects, mammals, and plants are reclaiming the now 80-hectare reserve.

The reserve's glamping tents and eco-cabins welcome friend groups, families, and couples to explore this rehabilitated area as well as to discover more of the Garden Route.

Set within the Garden Route National Park on the Rondevlei, Reflections is a restored wilderness area.

The landscapes are complemented by activities in and around the reserve, allowing you to connect with nature.

Reflect on the natural world and our place within it – while watching light and sky reflected across the wetlands and Wilderness Lakes.

Our two en-suite glamping tents are tucked beside the vlei, where couples can sit on their deck and watch the birds on the water.

Our four timber eco-chalets have three rooms, an indoor fireplace for cosy nights in, and a private firepit for evenings spent with your loved ones.
