130 tigerfish in 5 days - 37 over 10 lbs ! 🐅🎣

After more than 10 years, the Shangombo Fishing Safari is back — and Group 1 got straight into them.

Over our first 5 days at our new camp the guys landed:

- 130 Tigersfish
- 2 Nembwe
- 37 tigers over 10 lbs (including fish of 10, 11, 12, 12.5, 13, 14, 14.5, 16 and 17 lbs)
- Biggest Tiger - 17lbs
- Biggest Nembwe - 7lbs
- Most fish by one boat in one day - 17 Tigerfish

One of the standouts from our first group was the impressive average size that the Kwando system showed here at Shangombo, with 37 tigers breaking the 10 lb mark.
And the fishing here comes with a pretty special backdrop. The river leaves Zambia and runs directly into vast, uninhabited Angola, allowing the guys to fish long stretches with no other boats, anglers or people in sight.

20.5 lbs! 🐅🎣

You know it’s a big fish when your guide gets this excited!

This incredible 20.5 lb tiger was landed on the way upriver from Mutemwa, as our guests made their way towards Ngonye Falls National Park for two nights of fishing and camping.

Taken on a 9cm Fire Tiger Floating Magnum , it was a pretty special way to finish the first part of our season — and our final Ngonye Falls Safari before we head over to the Kwando River.

The Upper Zambezi has certainly been producing some special trophy fish this season, and it’s not done yet!

Well done Josias — and congratulations on a phenomenal catch! 👏

And a big shoutout to boat guide Joseph for putting Josias onto another very special Upper Zambezi tiger.

We’ll be back on the Zambezi in November, but for now… we’re headed to the Kwando! 💥

Not every day you catch a second tigerfish over 20 pounds on the same safari!🔥

Chris Bornman’s second Zambezi giant weighed in at 21lbs, caught just below the portage at our top rapids with Joe once again putting him on the spot.
Another unforgettable Tiger; on another unforgettable Ngonye Falls Safari.
