We had a wonderful engagement with the Beitbridge District Public Prosecutors and a member of our local NPWMA Investigations Unit on Wildlife Crime over the weekend. The whole team spent two days with us at Sentinel Sandstone Camp, followed by a Sunday morning boat cruise at Nottingham Retreat, familiarising themselves with the our natural resources and the challenges conservationists face from poaching. The exchange of ideas and knowledge was scintillating to say the least. Many thanks to the DPP members for coming, to Future Hoko and Ishmael Tshabalala and Nottingham Estates for making this extraordinary opportunity to collaborate on wildlife crime possible.

Vultures play an incredible role in keeping our environment clean and disease-contained. And yet they are persecuted, poisoned, killed for muti body parts, and die regularly on manmade power lines and structures that so easily could be altered in design to make them safe for vultures. They are, in fact, more endangered than rhinos. Let’s change our ways. VulPro is showing us the way!

Sentinel is still looking wonderful after a second higher-than-average, bountiful rainy season. All the springs are still flowing well, which is a sign of excellent ground water that bodes well for the forecasted El Niño expected this summer.
Our Beneficiary Community is making plans to get more involved in the wildlife conservation efforts in our area. So exciting to witness their enthusiasm and determination to protect our natural resources. Watch this space.
