The charges for the lodge are as follows:

Bed & Breakfast for a Single: U$120.00
Bed & Breakfast for a Double: U$140.00

Clients are also able to use the swimming pool, the tennis court, braai area, as well as the adjacent golf course, Hornung Park Golf Club. We are able to provide an extra bed for younger children for a small fee. Hornung Park Lodge can also cater for clients in wheelchairs.

Like most people I know, when I wake up I first check my mails and what's app messages. An lo and behold the first thing I see - this amazingly colourful, black and gold announcement:
Hornung Park Lodge is a nominee for the Best Lodge of the Year!!! Yeah!!! Great. Wonderful. My mind goes into overdrive: what am I going to wear, I need the hairdresser....
And then, unfortunately, my everyday brain kicks in: Who is this from - no idea. Have I ever heard of them - no. Are they clients of ours - no. Have they ever inspected us - no. I always knew that we are definitely one of the best lodges, but THE best one? That is such an individual decision.
Hmmm.
A closer look at the invitation reveals that the "participation fee" is US 100.00. And why does the payment have to be made to Leewells Designs and not to BEA? And why did I always think these kind of awards would be free of charge for nominees and instead of paying a fee there would be (at least for the lucky winner) a price and not just a certificate probably homemade on the computer.
Definitely too many questions for me to necessitate a frantic call to the hairdresser or a dive into my cupboards. I'll give this award (like all the others from all the corners of the world that land on our computer) a miss.
