Saturday 14 November is one to put in the diary. Fish Fry take the stage at the Royal at 7.30pm, and it’s the last show with Howard and Andrew before the new owners take over the following week.

Expect rhythm, blues, soul, jump and jive from a band that has played together long enough to make it sound easy. It’s music made for dancing, and a good night to look back on the shows we’ve hosted here over the last few years.

The Dungog Show runs all day at the Showgrounds, so you can make a full day of it.

This Friday 23 October, Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham bring their Go North Go South tour to the Royal. Music from 7.30pm.

The tour celebrates their third studio album, Everything Around You, which spent multiple weeks at number one on the ARIA Australian Country Album Chart. You’ll hear songs from the new record, including “Go North Go South”, “Joy Roller” and “New Frontier”, alongside favourites such as “Size Up”.

Their sound draws on folk, country, blues and roots, played in a warm, easy-going way. Felicity and Josh are an ARIA-nominated, three-time Golden Guitar winning duo, and Josh is also a member of The Waifs.

After his recent sold-out national orchestra tour, Tim Freedman is ready to strip things back and get his cabaret on. Hitting the Royal stage on Saturday 19 December, Tim will be joined by 20 time Golden Guitar winner and multi-instrumentalist Rod McCormack.

There is nothing more classic than a man and his piano, and an audience ready to listen. With his delicate piano stylings and lyrics of good-natured cynicism, intimate smaller theatres around the country have become a staple of his touring cycle as a relaxing antidote to the highly charged rock rooms and concert halls of The Whitlams’ full band and orchestra shows.

Guiding you through the highlights of his nine album catalogue with songs such as "Blow Up the Pokies" and "No Aphrodisiac", and into some lesser known detours including the recent country outing, The Whitlams Black Stump album "Kookaburra", Tim looks forward to meeting you up close and personal.

Tickets are now on sale for Fish Fry at the Royal on Saturday 14 November.

It’s shaping up as a very good day to be in Dungog. The annual Dungog Show runs all day at the Showgrounds, so come in for the show and stay on for the night. Once the day winds down, head over to the pub for an evening of rhythm, blues, soul, jump and jive.

Fish Fry is a band made up of musicians who have been playing together for so long that they’ve got it down to perfection. If you enjoy live music that’s tight, warm and made for dancing, this one is for you.

The night is also the last show at the Royal with current owners Howard and Andrew, before the new owners take over the following week. It’s a good chance to come along, enjoy a great night out and celebrate the range of shows we’ve hosted here over the last few years.
