Rowanlea Lodge is in an idyllic rural setting just outside the village of Marykirk, Aberdeenshire. There are many routes for walks and cyclists close by.

The pub has a superb cosy wood burner and the restaurant a lovely open fire. The River Esk is a short walk from the lodge which is famous for its salmon and trout fishing. There are various places of interest to visit within 25 miles, there is a choice of Glamis, Crathes and Dunnotar castle, also the famous Balmoral castle a little further away. Glenshee Ski & Snowboard Centre and the Lecht Ski Centre are approximatley 50 miles from the Lodge. Montrose Basin Wildlife Centre is a local nature reserve home to over 50,000 migratory birds for those interested. There is plenty wild life on our doorstep, deer, squirrels and many birds. This is a perfect getaway for a relaxing break in the countryside with fantastic views across the Cairn O Mount. This high quality Lodge has been built from Scottish Douglas Fir trees and has a Scottish theme throughout which will provide a unique Log Cabin experience. This self catering accommodation has been decorated and furnished to a high standard comprising of one downstairs double bedroom, an open plan living room/kitchen, a shower room and an upstairs open plan bedroom and sitting area that sleeps four. All rooms are heated and the main living area has a log burner. Well behaved pets are welcome. Welcome packages can be provided on request for special occasions.

Every holiday house needs a quiet corner… and this might just be ours. 🤍

Welcome to one of the cosiest little spaces in Rowanlea House, our new holiday let.

Tucked beside the window, this peaceful reading corner is made for slower moments, morning coffee, a few chapters of a good book or simply sitting back and enjoying the view outside.

With its soft armchair, warm lighting and homely touches, it’s a little spot to switch off and settle in. Because sometimes the best part of getting away is having absolutely nowhere you need to be.

We’ve just had the loveliest surprises from guests checking out. ❤️

One guest left us an adorable Highland coo to add to our collection, along with a handwritten thank you note. 🐮🤎

And another lovely guest surprised us with these beautiful flowers and card. 💐🌸

It’s incredibly touching when guests take the time to leave a little gift or a few kind words. Knowing you’ve enjoyed your stay and made happy memories at Rowanlea Lodge means more to us than you probably realise.

🛏️Have you ever wondered what it feels like to wake up at Rowanlea Lodge?

🌲Upstairs, Rowanlea Lodge opens into a wonderfully spacious bedroom tucked beneath the characterful douglas fur tree beams. With the room flowing around you and the countryside framed through the windows, it feels airy, peaceful and just a little bit special.

💤Wake slowly, stay tucked under the covers and take in the view or enjoy a glass of something chilled as the light changes outside. Despite its open-plan feel, the bedroom has a lovely sense of retreat it's quiet, comfortable and connected to the landscape beyond.

It’s the sort of room that makes you want to linger a little longer. 🤍
