We’re looking for a new face to join our Reception team at Glencoe House. 👋

Our Reception team is at the heart of the guest experience, from welcoming new arrivals and helping with enquiries to keeping things running smoothly throughout the day.

We’re currently looking for a permanent Receptionist who is friendly, professional and genuinely enjoys working with people.

Previous hospitality or customer service experience would be helpful, but it’s not essential, and full training will be provided.

A few details:
💼 Permanent position
💷 £13.45 per hour
🏡 Plus £1.00 per hour housing allowance for team members who do not require staff accommodation, bringing the total package to £14.45 per hour

Heading to Glencoe this Sunday? A quick heads-up about the Glencoe Marathon Gathering. 🏃‍♀️⛰️

We’ve had a few questions about what the event means for getting around the area, so here are a few useful things to know:

🚗 There are no official road closures. This is predominantly an off-road mountain trail event, with runners following mountain tracks, valleys and sections of the West Highland Way.

Find full route maps here: https://glencoemarathon.co.uk/

🚦 There will be marshalled road crossings. Runners cross or briefly travel alongside public roads at certain points, where marshals will be on hand to manage runners and traffic safely.

📍 Expect things to be busier around the main event hubs, particularly Fort William, Kinlochleven and the finish at Glencoe Mountain Resort.

🏃 Thinking about taking part? You can’t register on the day, so you'll need to register online in advance. Marathon check-in takes place on Saturday at the Nevis Centre in Fort William from 2pm–8pm. Half Marathon runners can check in there on Saturday or in Kinlochleven on Sunday morning.

And, of course, good luck to everyone taking on the mountains this weekend! ⛰️

September starts tomorrow, and with it, Scottish Food & Drink September. 🍽️

This year’s theme is ‘Every Bite Tells a Story’, and at Glencoe House, where you eat is part of that story too.

Guests staying in our House Suites can enjoy dinner served privately in their suite, turning their space into their own dining room for the evening.

If the walls of Suite One could talk, there would probably be a few stories involving a billiard cue. 🎱

Before Glencoe House became a hotel, what is now the private sitting room in Suite One was Lord Strathcona’s Billiard Room.

Today, some of the room’s original features are still very much part of the space, including the herringbone parquet flooring, window shutters and ornate ceiling.

The billiard table may have gone, but it’s still a room designed for spending time in, whether that’s breakfast around the dining table, an evening drink or simply settling into the sofa for a few hours.

Pearls of Wisdom: visiting Glencoe outside the summer months

If you’re planning a trip to Glencoe in autumn, a few practical things are worth knowing before you set off.

🥾 Pack for the conditions, not the forecast. Waterproofs, warm layers and good footwear are worth having with you. If you’re heading into the hills, always check the conditions first.

🌤️ Keep an eye on daylight. The days shorten quickly through autumn, so allow plenty of time for walks and getting back before dark.

🚗 Start early. Popular spots such as the Three Sisters, Glencoe Lochan and viewpoints along the A82 can still get busy, particularly at weekends.

☕ Check before you set off. Some smaller attractions, cafés and businesses change their opening hours outside the main season.

And finally, don’t wait for a perfectly clear day. Mist, rain and low cloud are very much part of Glencoe, and often completely change the landscape.

Christmas may still feel some way off, but at Glencoe House, plans for the festive season are already taking shape.🎄

With dates across Christmas and New Year beginning to book, we wanted to share a little more for those considering spending the festive period with us this year.

Our website has a dedicated Christmas and New Year page with details of what guests can expect throughout their stay.

While we finalise this year’s dining plans, you can also view a sample Christmas Day menu from a previous year for a flavour of the occasion:

One of the best things about Glencoe is August is that it doesn't look like anywhere else .. and the weather can't always be predicted!

Even when the summer rain spell sweep in, it's beautiful ... the sheer amount of green, mountains vanishing into cloud, and getting rain, mist and sunshine in the same visit.
