Fresh paint, new wheels and a yard full of tanks to deliver 🚚

Our new GRAF van has been branded, and it’s ready to start delivering. These tanks will be some of the first it takes out on the road, and the fresh logos will let everyone know who's delivering!

This site holds 190,000 litres of water underground, the equivalent of about 1,250 bathtubs 🛁

A 16,000 litre Carat tank and EcoBloc modules work together to store it all. Neither system could have done the job on its own.

Got a question about the design? Drop it in the comments.

Why use EcoBloc modules instead of conventional tanks on this project? 🧱

One-piece tanks would have needed a bigger footprint, a longer excavation, more spoil to remove and at least four times as many deliveries. EcoBloc cut all of that back, saving time, install costs and storage space on site.

Got a question about the install? Drop it in the comments.

The pupils at St Cuthbert’s are about to become the school’s gardeners 🌱

They’ll be choosing what to plant, doing the weeding, filling the compost bin and using the taps on the water butts to fill their watering cans.

And when everything’s ready, they get to eat the food they’ve grown!

What would you plant first if it were your school garden? Tell us below 👇

Remember how hot and dry this summer was? One school wanted to turn it into a lesson ☀️

Lawrie from St Cuthbert’s got in touch to help teach pupils why collecting rainwater matters when dry spells hit, so Alan went along with water butts, raised beds and a compost bin for the school garden.
The hope is the children will take the habit home with them when they’re older.

Did your garden struggle this summer? Let us know 👇

Buying a home with a septic tank? 🏠 Your standard survey might not tell you the whole story.

Since 2020, septic tanks in England can’t discharge straight into a stream or ditch. If the one you’re buying still does, fixing it becomes your job after you move in, and a replacement can cost up to £15,000. A drainage survey costs around £300 to £600.

Heard of carbon neutral? Now there’s water neutral too 💧

It means a new building shouldn’t put extra pressure on the local water supply. Saving water gets you part of the way, and rainwater harvesting covers the rest by putting the rain from your roof to work in toilets, washing machines and gardens.

Would you use rainwater at home? Let us know in the comments, and visit our website to see how it could work for you.

A garden delivery with a lesson attached 🌱

Yesterday we headed up to St Cuthbert’s Catholic School with some GRAF kit for their brand new gardening area.

The students are learning all about sustainable gardening, so we dropped off some Skyline Raised Beds, a Thermo King composter and Slim Stone water butts to help them get started.

Now they can collect rainwater for watering and turn food scraps into compost, learning how sustainable gardening works one step at a time 💧

Planning to run your sewage treatment plant into the ditch at the end of your garden? 🤔

In England, the ditch has to flow all year round. If it dries up in summer, you can’t use it under the General Binding Rules, and you may need a drainage field or an Environment Agency permit instead.

Has your builder told you that you need a Klargester? 🤔

Here's the thing. Klargester is a brand, not a type of sewage treatment plant, in the same way Hoover is a brand of vacuum cleaner. If you're not on the main sewer, there are plenty of options to choose from.
