Wow… what an amazing community we have! ❤️

A fantastic turnout last night for Martin’s birthday!

A huge thank you to Gail Mills and team who helped organise and prepare for the evening. The Paisley Shirts Paul Mills & ToeKnee Hands (and including Martin this time! 😂) added to the fun, alongside the brilliant music. Thank you to The Wee Gamrie Kitchen for the incredible spread, and to Eve Dawber for the absolutely gorgeous birthday cake.

A special thank you to our little family team, Nathan and Daniel and everyone who helped throughout the night collecting glasses, clearing tables, and lending a hand wherever it was needed. We are so grateful for each and every one of you.

Very importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us and came together as our Gamrie family. How fortunate we are to be part of such a wonderful community! And to those who couldn’t be with us but still sent cards, gifts, and good wishes for Martin — thank you. He had a fantastic evening and was truly touched by all the kindness.

It was certainly a busy night, so for anyone who experienced a slightly longer wait than usual, thank you for your patience. We hope it was worth it for the chance to spend an evening surrounded by some of the best people we know, in one of the most special villages in the world.

One of many lessons learned… next time we’ll need to arrange a photographer! 📸 We were far too busy enjoying the celebrations to take many photos ourselves. Thank you to everyone who has already shared photos and videos — we love seeing our lovely guests having a great time. If you have any more to share, please send them our way!

What a great night – and even better, Scotland won Match 1! 🏴⚽ Well done, boys!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the pub to support Scotland. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many people dressed in their Scottish attire!

A special thank you to Jacob and K4 Group of Companies for their excellent service. It’s a pleasure working with you.

Our score and first-goal prediction competition was won by Jane Donald. Three ladies – Sara Neill, Jen and Jane – all correctly predicted the final score, but Jane was closest with her first-goal prediction of 26 minutes!

The winnings were kindly donated to this month’s quiz recipient, Gamrie Gardens CIC. Thank you for your generosity. ❤️

We’re already looking forward to the next game!

Martin turns 80 this week!

Born and bred in Gamrie, Martin has spent his whole life in the village and has been a familiar face at the bar for as long as most can remember, usually with a pint of Tennents and a Bushmills close by! 🥃🍺

His actual birthday is on Wednesday, but we’re throwing him a surprise celebration on Friday night with live music from The Paisley Shirts. 🎶

⚠️ IMPORTANT: This is a surprise! Please don’t mention it to Martin if you see him before Friday. Thankfully, he’s not on Facebook, so we should be safe! 🤫

⚽🧠 Quiz Night & World Cup Kick-Off at The Garden Arms! 🧠⚽

This Thursday, we’re combining the Quiz Night with the opening match of the World Cup as South Africa take on Mexico live from 8pm!

To make sure nobody misses the action, we’ll be running a shortened quiz from 6pm–7pm before kick-off.

The Wee Gamrie Kitchen will be serving some special World Cup treats:

🇲🇽 Mexican Nachos

We’ll also be keeping the kitchen open later than usual on Thursday evening.

🎯 There will also be a “Guess the Final Score” competition, with a prize for the closest prediction.

• The pub will close 15 minutes after the final whistle
• Transport within the village after the game can be arranged in advance

It’s a brutal kick-off time, so spare a thought for the barman… while you’re enjoying Scotland’s opener, he’ll be wondering whose bright idea it was to start serving hot dogs in the middle of it.
